Gotta be the Debbie Downer... not a Gillis fan at all. Horrible thin tone and i hated his whammy wankery! He does an adequate job on that live tape though.

His tone was fat to my ears

Yeah , thin wouldn't be the way I would discribe it.
Yeah...we definitely have different definitions of thin...his tone was considered very thick by just about everybody back in those days. Still not thin by today's standards IMO.

I though Brad did extremely well on that album and DVD. Brad always had a killer live tone...thin it wasn't. it was classic boogie tone.

I saw Brad front row in Ann Arbor MI on the Diary tour, a few weeks after seeing Randy on the same tour in Detroit. It was still too soon for me as Randy was my guy back then. Bard did the best he could playing Randy stuff and was a real professional, people were flipping him off (sadly my 18yr old self included) and it didn't phase him at all. He did a fine job and the average joe wouldnt have know any difference ;)

I love the Speak of the Devil Album, I though Brad was great on that one.

I agree!!! I saw Randy at Cobo Hall, but missed out on seeing Brad in Ann Arbor. Brad's tone was not thin based on the two or three Ozzy live recordings I have.

Yeah, that tone is anything BUT thin.
It's actually ONE of the best recorded live guitar tone I've heard. Yeah, yeah, I know IMHO :)

I have this on Double Vinyl!

Ozzy had the best vocal tone.

Yes, OZZY did but it was overdubbed/enhanced in the studio.

I wouldn't mind watching this DVD to see Gillis' take on the RR stuff, but to me Speak of The Devil is the Sabbath stuff. I still listen to it frequently, love Brad's playing on it, would rather see that.

That's cool, did you think it was a killer show? I think it was Feb 8 or 9 when I saw Randy at Cobo. I was on the main floor maybe 25-30 rows back. That was a great show and Randy was awesome. See if this brings back any memories http://www.shawnlutz.com/Diarytour.htm

He was using the 2C's back then. My Mark V set on 2C+ sounds just like it. I don't care what the old dudes say. :D

Whatever. I like to troll 2C+ dudes because they're so diehard for a 25+ year OLD design. :D Mark V's sound great.

Yes, I remember that show like it was yesterday and Randy was awesome. It was February 8th. I was in the lower bowl on the left side facing the stage (right side of stage where Rudy was at). I could see Randy perfectly plus I brought binoculars!!!      Great information you have there!!!
