XXX's are best w/ 6l6's imo.
Truly underrated amps. More amps need active eq like this. I'd take one of these over a 6505 or Recto for that alone. They just have a brutal chunk and low string clarity thats hard to find for $5-600

I just used my Stealth 100 tonight with my metal band. EVH is just always solid

I’ve always wanted to mod one. I think they are amazing stock but with a few tweaks could sound nuts.

Yeah just different power tubes EL34 vs 6L6. Not a tech but I think that also would need a different transformer, not sure.

No, they accept both types of tubes. They have a bias range switch and pot, though limited range overall. The pre XXX ultra amps were 6L6 only.
