I picked this up off of Refeeverb earlier in the week. Arrived yesterday late…UPS dude must have been on overtime.

I basically just had time to get it out of the box and make sure nothing was broken. And then go to bed. Lol

It’s a 1989 Peavey Tracer Custom. What drew me to this one was the fact that it had a reverse headstock!!! Not a lot of these did. These are wallet friendly high quality guitars.

If you are familiar with the Peavey Vandenberg model, the necks on these Tracer Customs are VERY SIMILAR!!! Wide. Slim. Fast. This one has a rosewood fretboard. The Vandenberg has ebony.

It features a HSS configuration. A factor Kahler Spyder trem system. It has a master volume/master tone with a 5 way blade and a coil split mini toggle.

The frets are in great shape Overall, the guitar is in ok condition. It’s been played.

I will have more pics and a full tone report when I finish setting it up this morning.

Wow!! I finally got around to going through this awesome Peavey this morning!!

I was going to block the trem from dive only, but I ended up setting it up to float…and I’m so glad I did!!! It stays in tune until the cows come home. I think those Kahler Spyder trems are just as good as a Floyd.

The neck pickup sounded like dog poop. So I installed a Seymour Duncan HOT RAIL in the neck….that sounds great!!!

And I added a kill switch.

I polished the frets, oiled the fretboard and set it up with a new set of 9s.

It plays and sounds great!! It’s a shedders dream!!!

My very first high quality guitar was a Peavey USA Impact 1 (with the super cool phenolic fretboard)

Those old Peaveys are slept on for sure
Yeah man!! These USA peaveys from the late 80s early nineties are hidden gems

Great guitars. Here’s my ‘87 Nitro, ‘88 Vandenberg, and ‘89 Tracer.

Had white tracer back in the 90's, was a great guitar but was my first Floyd and I couldn't grasp it so I got rid of it. Wish I still had it. Great guitar.

Ok thanks

I just got a Jackson fusion. Hard to find Gibson scale shredders.

The Peavey Vandeberg is 24 3/4", along with the Kramer Nightswan, Kramer Proaxe, all "Fusion" models from J/C. Unfortunately, besides the J/C Fusion models, all the rest of these are starting to really climb in price. Though the new Nightswans are fine guitars, at a reasonable price.
