I have a non-trem Peavey Wolfgang Goldtop (the archtop model, not the special). Anyone know how rare these might be? I've hardly ever seen one anywhere else. I am aware they've been out of production for a number of years. I'm just wondering how common/uncommon mine might be.

It is a cool guitar. I'll have to add a couple pictures when I get a chance.

The stoptails are more rare than the Floyd models in general and you don't see many goldtops come up for sure. Not that it adds much value.....stoptail wolfies are my fave though!

No not terrible rare, they come up from time to time. I saw one go for about $950 not too long ago. I wouldn't pay over 1k for them.

I've seen plenty of the flat tops in gold, but don't recall seeing any arch tops. IIRC, the gold tops were only made when the originally planned color didn't turn out right or the wood didn't have a good flame or quilt pattern.

I didn't really think it would be all that rare. It's very cool though, and I like it a lot.

And I got it for $800, which I think is a pretty good price.

I have one. Wolfgang Goldtop standard ST. Never really thought about their rarity but I dont know anyone else that has one...

Nothing you post is relevant.

Too bad there wasn't a video of the peavey factory before the company went to shit.

Wolgang PV & EVH Fenders are the same guitar except Fender isn't a shitty Company that cuts corners.

IDK WTF relevance you speak of ... ?

There was a PV custom shop "video" but it was a slide show narrated by our Hero Hartly telling us the virtues of shitty guitars.

Once Donald Trump takes over there will be no more Made in China, thats of course after killing ISIS, making the world safe for flaming Republican Democracy, giving everybody a job that makes 200K a year, paying down the 33Trillion Dollar deficit & deporting all immigrants.

Not that theres anything wrong with that.

I have had a couple of those.
You got a heap of guitar for $800.

Don't lump the Wolfgang in with the rest of the Peavey product line. The Peavey Wolfgang is a very well made high quality instrument that plays and sounds great! I had three, I'm down to two. And I've played a bunch of others. All were as good or better than anything else out there. And I'm an Ibanez guy! I was playing my tobacco Archtop the other day. It's so good. Way better than a LP standard I compared it to a while back.

And the Peavey and Fender/EVH Wolfs have a few differences. Mostly the neck and pickups.

Anybody notice the current EVH line resembles more of a Les Paul Custom then the Kramer FrankenStrats ?

Mahogany body/neck, Ebony FB ... binding, inlays from Basswood bodies & maple necks ?

PV Wolfgangs are fun guitars and the pickups are great. Sold them in the 90's and they all were very consistent. In tune and ready to go right out of the box, always with a great action. Neck was too small for my tastes but fit and finish always top notch.

Yes, everybody noticed because that was the whole point. They even named it the "custom", numbnuts ;)
