Pedal board for the front and amp's loop.

Take it from someone who had a pedaltrain pro FILLED with pedals running through the loop and front...

1) depending on your amp's loop, consider either making sure *all* of your fx loop pedals are line level or get a Eb tech line level shifter. one instrument level in there with the line levels is a bad idea.

2) Get some velcro cable ties and use those to tie together your audio cables going in/out from the board.

3) Don't skimp on a good power supply for your board. The voodoo labs pedal power 2 is pretty nifty.

4) strongly consider a pedaltrain board if you don't have a board already - the design is great, and it's easy to reconfigure later when you decide that you want to switch out something or move it around.

5) Get some Gepco XB/20 cable and some G&H ends. Solder up your cables you'll need to size. Don't do the George L stuff, sure you can fix them on the fly but when they go out it's still a pain in the ass. Plus I got nailed once when I trimmed it to size - it didn't reach after I trimmed off the end. DOH! While you're at it, get enough length of cable and make some good cables for the rest of your chain too. Make a few extras that are the maximum length of any on the board so in an emergency you can just swap a cord out, continue with the gig/jam/whatever and then fix it later.

I'm getting ready to put together a couple of different boards - I have the M13 Line 6 setup that works great, a Fractal with a Ground Control Pro that is sweet, but I want a couple of small pedal based boards so I can use some of my pedals - Bad Horsie Wah, Boss DD20, CE20, Fulldrive 2, assorted fuzzes and overdrives, MXR vintage flanger, not so vintage Phase 90, etc. I'd rather have the stuff on a board ready to roll than loose in a bad, which is how all my home-painted pedals I built got chipped to hell. :(

Well I guess I am going to have to put up with some added tap dancing but got some great ideas from here though.

Front line will have a true by-pass looper/switcher to isolate the boosts, vibe, and wah and the second row will be delays, flangers, and chorus going to the loop. BY turning the loop off via the fs I can also isolate those pedals as well.

Thanks guys.

Look back at my post. I have a gizmo that is about the size of a DD20 that can control both the front and the loop with 1 switch (or separately).

Hey thanks Pete, cool info!

Yeah I will buy a board with enough space for sure, between the tubevibe, DL-4, and soon a modfactor I some big freaking pedals and need access to their multi footswitches.

No doubt going for the VL peddle power, also looking at the new CAE MXR power source as the specs are killer. I want a board that will have the power supply under the board.

What is this? Who made it? Thanks! Looking for ways to minimize my board and tap dancing requirements too.

I miss your post!

That does look pretty cool, is it on their site or a special order?

It was a special order. I talked to Joel (Home Brew Electronics) directly and, once I paid him, the thing shipped within a week or two. Don't remember exactly how much it was, but I'm 90% sure it was under $150...

i've had luck making pedal boards with one rack space in the front(normally housed under the peal surface on an angle.

fitting it in and just routing it all that way. four leads going to the amp.

2 for the loop, 1 for channel switching, and one for the input.

gcx has 4 jacks per channel, the loop and the in out.

i'll contact this guy see if he is still around. but this is what i built for him.

VHt Valvuelator -> bad horsie wah -> gcx(loop1 tuner kill patch) (loop 2 boss ds-1) loop 3 roto vibe, loop 4 old MXR dyna comp, loop 5 ocd.

lopp 6 and 7 were in the amps loop.

6 was a small clone
7 was a dd3
loop 8 channel switch

he has his smaller GCX switch(not the ground control) on the left side of the board, wah and roto on the right and the other pedals were above the footswitch.

a power line at 15 amps was worked into the pedalboard as well.

i'm seriously kicking myself for not taking pictures.

perfect tone is complicated and weighs a lot
control is expensive

and tubes make things better :D

Such the instigator....
