mahalo! pedals are fun and usually an affordable way to totally transform and customize your sound.


although one thing i never got into over the years was fuzz and univibe pedals.

i hear the analogman sun lion sounds awesome and there's a new one out i heard recently that may have me changing my tune,
and i love univibe sounds but feel like my gforce can approximate it enough to satisfy my needs and don't want to shell out 3 clams for one special effect pedal.

the uvibe in the axefx ultra was pretty darn convincing as well.

As a certifiable Univibe fanatic Pat, the only thing that does a univibe is a univibe. While the axe did a reasonable job, If you had a chance to play with any of my vibes, not only would the AE Uni sound paltry, you would become a total devotee of the box's swirly pulsing lushness. As far as Fuzz goes, the KR gypsey Fuzz and the pigtronix disnortion get my votes. The best way I can describe both is that its like a cross between a tubes screamer and fuzz without being too much of either, lending to very nice singing sustaining tones..

The best way I can describe both is that its like a cross between a tubes screamer and fuzz without being too much of either, lending to very nice singing sustaining tones..

Needless to say, I'm pumped - it's going to be a fun project.

As for the comment about FUZZ above, I love the Big Muff Pi man, it's soooooooo thick and gooey. Total 70's blast from the past, and throw an OD in front of it, and it gets tweaked a la Frusciante meets Corgan style

Again we are in agreement and like anything else,theres the good, the bad and the ugly. I like it just as you do and never had any time for the undefined wooliness that some people seem to dig. Id like to add the Analogman sun face to the fuzzes that I mentioned earlier but have no experience with the Sun Lion..

Yeah forgive my spelling for I have not a drop of of Hawaiian blood nor anything resembling a passable equivalent though I rock the ass out of the Aloha Spirit!!! Im jonesing for Hawaiian grub my damn self!!!

I used to inhale malasadas by the dozen after repeated sampling of the Islands's favorite Flora I need some PipKaula, Kahlua pork and Moco Loco with copius amounts Musubi!!! Hell Pat, I could easily live on that cuisine...

i got my first pedal, a ross distortion, in 1982; played that bad boy acapella 'til i lost the bottom cover-

so here we are in 2011, 29 years later!, and lookie what miss postwoman left for me at the house..

it would be SHOWTIME now now if it wasn't for my wife giving trumpet lessons in the living room as i type this

oh but mark my works peoples,
somebody is going to be having fun later on tonight!
