perfect guitar albums

-well, weather you wanna admit it or not, we all know there's only one "PERFECT GUITARIST" the ultimate musician, who went light years past just playing guitar, he stripped it of any ego, status and pretensive dignity, bore its soul, leaving its identity irrelevant and no longer seen on cartons of milk, then,... Then!!.. he did the unthinkable, he fucked it!!.. too the point where the guitar no longer had a single note left to incohetently mumble with its last gasp, left there, nakked, a limp, lifeless heap of the sum of its parts, undistinguished as an aging porn, once the proud queen of extreme, left all alone and avoided like the wet spot that she now is, she clings to the memory, reliving, replaying it-(especially THAT part!)-on and endless loop, as she fades from everyones memory, if she could do life all over, if she had one wish!... "please!,.. i beg you,... do it again!!!.."

-JIMI HENDRIX-

and his best stuff was always live, and he was at his best when there was a famous guitarist from a famous band in attendance, there to scoff and belittle "the new king" but like all the other's, only to sneak out, hopefully unseen, out the back door, with whats left of there ego, foolish pride & the remnents of there over inflated balls,....

- one night, the man, the living legend, the original GUITAR GOD, the guitarist who that very term was invented for, he was clearly head & shoulders above his contemporaries, and that title, GUITAR GOD!! was given to this virtuoso, who seemed to take and break new, uncharted territory daily!! He, indeed, was MIDAS, the GUITAR GOD!!.. he could do no wrong, this GOD had no boundries, and his very own contemporaries are the very people who put this crown on his head!! If that alone, doesnt tell you of his greatness, nothing will, his legion's of fans, admirers, worshippers of the GUITAR GOD, listened, all amazed by his mastery, all were in aww, even musicians of different instruments, different styles and genres, all hailed the GUITAR GOD, graffity, a new form of expression, art, news from the heart of a new generation, the generation of extremely fast recognition of the needed changes, who spoke out publicaly!!, this was a time of change!! MUSIC ment everything, it was the new and uncensored truth of the people, and this new generation, the generation that would change everything!! They had there GOD!!!.. but, but then, JIMI HENDRIX, the guitar god, well he witnessed HENDRIX,..... HENDRIX was a somewhat shy, very polite & humble man,... But as a musician,.... As a musician!!! HENDRIX came to not only conquer, HENDRIX came to inilate, destroy, rape & pillage, there were no apologies, no warnings, everyone, every theory, structure, old truth's were now new lies,...... and as a humble man, if HENDRIX felt, even in a small way, that you disrespected him, your time was short, and it would be ugly & always!!... right in front of every one, HENDRIX would take the notes, phrasing & structure of your most prized,... awarded piece of work!!!... your highly acclaimed MASTER PIECE!!!.. and while you, the immediate audience, journalist, fly's on the wall, the entire world & collective soul of everything,.. play it better with your notes, then he would make it HENDRIX's, depending on many factors, and how he felt, maybe he was just having a bad day?

-yeah I know, these novels gotta stop.
I actually quite enjoyed reading these

As for GOD (aka "Clapton"), I think he was overrated for his era and to this day, his legend is bigger than it needs to be. Also a bit of a racist prick. And all this "slo hand" nonsense, ya, honestly, he actually does play fucking slow. In fact, show me something where he isn't slow and I may change my position on the guy. But otherwise - SO many other players can leave that guy in the dust.

And Hendrix really was the real deal full package meal of virtuosity and innovation.

"The nickname "slowhand" has nothing to do with the speed of his playing. His playing in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, etc is "overrated"?

ACDC - Back In Black
You guys beat me to it. Back in Black was the only one I wanted to post as everything else I like is pretty-much here already. I've said this many times, but IMHO the tone, arrangements, songwriting, production, in-the-pocket and not-over-the-top playing, are tough to beat, and as a package, practically-impossible to do so.

That said, Larry Carlton's "Friends" is special IMHO. The production and 3D soundscapes / moods created are something else.

Megadeth:
Peace Sells But Who's Buying
Rust In Peace
Jason Becker:
Perpetual Burn
Ozzy Osbourne:
Blizzard of Ozz
Diary of a Madman

Surprising! That's a great guitar album.
That is indeed an OUTSTANDING album...some great vintage Marshall tones on there for sure.

Yeah I was just listening to it and the tone kills, killer riffs and the leads are other worldly. I know Jake can make anything sound amazing but the tone on there is one of my favorite Marshall tones ever.

UFO - Strangers in the Night

Go Bob!

How about "Friday Night in San Francisco" by Mclaughlin, Di Meola, & Delucia?

ZZ Top - First Album, Tres Hombres
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Street Survivors, One More From the Road
SRV- Texas Flood, Couldn't Stand the Weather

There are no perfect ones, but I like these.

That just takes it to an entirely different level.
