Mostly agree with you here, but I wouldn't want to be footing the bill with my tax dollars. I just wouldn't trust the government to handle everything. They'd probably do something stupid like set it up similar to Obamacare. The middle class would be taxed to hell to pay for gov't childcare while fully paying for their own childcare. It would probably double the cost for taxpayers too. The same people who are on welfare would likely continue to receive it plus get free childcare.
I also see a big potential for nationwide Somali daycare fraud.
Now, if it were set up proper I'd be more in favor. Make it where no one could double dip on welfare & childcare. Government pays only a portion of childcare and parent(s) pay the rest. Show your kid is regularly attending daycare. And maybe have some form vouchers or something that doesn't give the money directly to the daycare so there's less chance for fraud in that regard and parents can choose the daycare they want.
I guess my bottom line is I'd be okay with gov't assisted childcare, but there's a 99% chance the government would fuck it up; especially if it were the dems putting it in place.
