thought thats what the J custom's are..?

Nope. You can't get the J-Customs spec'd to you unless you're a shop in Japan. :D At least Kurosawagakki has a limited edition batch each year and Ishibashi's been doing that too every now and then. All the J-Customs are made in Japan in the Fujigen factory by the most experienced builders they have.
Ibanez has a custom shop in Los Angeles but it is open for endorsed artists only. That said I'd LOVE to see Ibanez opening a custom shop though since the products they're putting out these days, except for the J-Customs if not counting the Edge Zero trem in them, suck! That's IMO of course.

Lets signing some petitions then, good people!

I mean a custom Ibanez would just be the ultimate guitar I think...

I'd like to get different PUP configs (H-S for example), reverse headstocks, different trems (Edge/Lo-Pro Edge/Edge Pro/Gotoh 510), different colors and different neck profiles to what they offer now.

They had an artist custom shop in a small area of their Bensalem P.A. Distribution warehouse with one guy building stuff for their U.S. endorsed artists..
A drummer or mine in the mid 90's was working with Tama on some stuff so I got a good tour of the place..

I just think there are enough guitarists out there, that would order one, to justify creating the Custom Shop... unless they really wanna keep that exclusivity to endorsed artists...

I got an Ibanez from the Custom Shop out here in the late '80s. At the time the only reverse headstock Sabre. I spoke with the then President of Hoshina and he kept telling me they didn't make reverse headstock necks for the Sabre until I pointed out that they had one for the double neck. Mace Bily made one for me a few weeks later. Still one of my favorite guitars. Ibanez Custom shop -

That would rule but I have a feeling the prices would be at least as nuts as Jackson's cs.

Tak Hosono (custom shop manager) says they are backed up months just on artist orders, so I don't see the general public getting a shot any time soon.

It's starting to get where for the price of a 'custom shop' instrument from a large company, you can have a small builder go crazy and save some money. No, it won't be a major company and you could lose your shirt on resale, but still...

another option would be to buy all the parts for your custom creation from Warmoth or a parts place, and then pay a luthier to assemble it.

Pete

I think it would be ok to charge $4-5k for it... I would be happier to pay that rather than 3k for a high end stock PRS or something...

+1 on the parts and pro assemble job.

What is it with every Ibanez cloner though being a wack job and not trustworthy?????? I know Sims is one hell of a painter and has sold beautiful bodies but heard one bad review.....could have been that the kid was an idiot though.

It sucks indeed! At some point I even thought about getting a 12/6 doubleneck Ibanez build for me w. maple fb, white body and matching reversed headstocks with black logos etc. but all the builders get so much shit for basically everything that I didn't want to start doing it...

There is a cloner in Bensalem PA down the street from the Ibanez factory, he is a retired Ibanez employee of many years named Jim Donahue. apparently he had something to do with the Jem design.

I have only heard positive things about his work and I am planning on a custom lefty hardtail through him.

This is his (lackluster) website:

http://www.noahjames.com/

obviously hes not advertising the Ibanez cloning but he does em.

Does anyone else know of any good emulators?

Or any ideas on which custom shops are really good, and which arent?

I really dig (although I havent tried one, but from what I see, and what I hear)
