Would the few people that play out with a mk II c+ leave it home now and use the new Mk2c+ live? I don't think a crowd could tell the difference.

Or is the large majority of 2C+ owners collectors and bedroom players? :scared:

I never used any of my IIC+ head live, and I've had about 8 of them over the years. As mentioned above, it's too much of a compromise to get the dirty tones I wanted simultaneously with the clean tones I needed. My old bandmate had a Mark III for a while and stopped using it live as well for the same reasons. If you only need one sound or just record or jam in the bedroom, you're golden. If you need versatility and don't want to drag multiple amps out to shows, it's not ideal.

That's why I think for gigging musicians, this could be great. The Mark V and possibly the JP-2C can get you in the ballpark while providing infinite more flexibility...if you need it.

:D

I find it really hard to believe that anyone with more than a day's worth of experience couldn't dial in both a good clean and a superlative drive for a gig. Definitely not too much of a compromise.

If you think the Mark V's drive was comparable to a IIC+ then there's really not much more to say; some people are content with less it appears. Personally, i'd gladly take the purported "compromise" of using the IIC+'s lead and clean channels over the "compromise" of the Mark V's relatively shitty lead tone.
Only 8-10 gigs a year for me now but I can easily dial a nice clean with a great lead tone. Just keep vol 1 down to 6-7 and treble 7-8 and I get a decent clean. Very much a 2 channel amp for me. Its all I've gigged with for about a year.

You can dial it in usable, but it was never clean enough for me since I used the Volume 1 up around "9".

And, kudos to Racerxrated for quoting MesaGoBloogie's stalker post before he thought better of it and edited it...

Yeah, same problem. Volume way up, humbuckers, there went my clean tone.

I edited my point because there's nothing I can possibly say to highlight your stupidity beyond your own words. You probably get this a lot in life, but you're simply not worth the effort.

I want clips....... I want demos.... I want clips....

Cmon Namm.... let's hear it.

I'm definitely trying one. I'm sure some of the purists will hate it, but lets be honest, the differnces in the 1400 or so mkIIc+ tones is pretty huge in itself. If it gets 90% of the tone, I'll be happy as hell. Could be one of the best new amps out in a LONG time. I'm stoked.

I hope Mesa Boogie has Petrucci sit down with Doug West and do an in-depth, mic'ed demo, like the one they did with Andy Timmons for the Mark Five: 25:

Or if not, at least another of these "fly on the wall" style demos:

Whatever the case, can't wait to hear it. :)

It definitely looks interesting... I want some demos too, we'll have to wait

From a Boogie rep on SS.org:

"This is an exact rebuild of the 105 transformers - we sent an original one to our custom transformer builder to have it reverse engineered...Thanks!"

On the demo video:

"Its coming soon...the release was indeed earlier than planned due to an earlier than expected magazine printing. We've got it on the way!!"

Wow. This really has my attention....and for $2,499.

Too bad Petrucci's favorite amp uses a 100 power transformer. lol

Well, the 2C+ worshipping crowd believes the 105 is the best so probably a good move. And I do love my 60 watter, but no experience with the 105.

They are all cool. I own a 100, but have owned the x101 and played numerous 105's.

Yes, we're all glad you can show up with your 20 posts (most all of which are in this thread and directed at me, I might add) and give us "proof" of things you heard from Petrucci's ex-roommate's cousin that works in a bakery where his Aunt once bought a bagel from a street vendor who said he overheard John's 3rd grade classmate say he saw a video once 6 years ago on YouTube that Petrucci said what you claim is true...

:D Now if you'll excuse us, dear, the adults would like to get back to a real conversation, unless you'd like to keep piling on to make it so 50%+ of all of your posts on the entire board are non-sense and insults directed here. Thanks...

That's awesome news. I'm with Racerxrated - most folks seem to covet the 105, so it's probably the logical choice.

Yeah, I played a LOT of shows with a IIC+ from 1999-2003. But as a versatile multi switcher the IIC+ leaves a bit to be desired. There's a middle ground but there was always some compromise. And I was in a band that played to the college/younger crowd so I wasn't just dialing in a Metallica tone. I had to go from clean to dirty a lot and if you dial in the clean to be perfect then the lead suffered, same with dialing in a killer lead.

But since Mesa finally made a sig amp for a guy like Petrucci. Where's the Hetfield Sig amp????? Imagine what a huge hit that would be!!!

That's one of the great parts about this one is that every channel is separate so you can dial in the clean and other channels perfectly now. I still don't know how a IIC+ clean channel sounds - I tried to look online but not many demos. Is it as good as the Mark V if you dial it in especially for the clean?

Judging by my bare bones 60W, the cleans are fantastic on these amps.

I knew Danyeo would be all over this...I am showing my age to you young bucks, but his clips of his Mesa with the crispy cream treble booster made me buy one. Actually i've owned two> I think you were playing Bad Boys by Whitesnake? Sounded killer. haha

I remember those clips as well. damn he can play and had killer tone.
Those clips still out there

Not to mention those flowing locks and killer legs :inlove:
