I'll probably catch some crap, but I like Ritchie Sambora. He has a great voice and can play the shit out of a guitar. But, while he's sipping virgin daiquiri's at Betty Ford, was there really any doubt that Phil X (Xenidis) would rip it? That dude rocks! Love the Fretted Americana videos

The guy is a great guitar player. But it just doesn't sound right. The whole vibe of the band is different. It's more like Jon singing karaoke now.

I concur. Sambora is a beast! I think my favourite guitar tone ever is that half time break thing in "While My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms". HUGE!
And Phil X rips too. Good on him for getting such a great gig.

to be honest i thought snake sabo did a better job on the leads on runaway than any lead ive heard sambora do. I love bon jovi and think the songs are awesome but in all honestly i always saw ritchie as a mediocre player in a huge band. Since he's technically always just been employed by Jon and never actually had a real "stake" in the band i always wondered why Jon never sought out an even better player early on with all the talent that was walking around LA in the 80's.
