Hmm, my '82 has the hot shield. I should try removing it.

It’s a must for these amps.

Yes, same.

It’s also a really good idea to replace the wire from the gain pot wiper into the grid of V1A with ground shielded cable. For oscillation and noise purposes.

But at the very least, do the main input wire.
