Pickups for mahogany body, maple neck guitar?

So I've got an Ibanez S-classic, one of these ^. Mahogany body, bolt on maple neck w/ rosewood board. The stock pickups sound pretty good but I could see myself at some point trying something different. The stock neck pickup can be a little weak, but both pickups split well with the five way switch. I'm playing mostly rock with this guitar, think Alice in Chains, VH, GNR, Foo Fighters...... Any suggestions and why?

I have the same wood combo but maple fret board. I use a JB/59 combo. Sounds killer.
 
Thanks for the reply. JB/59 is what I was thinking, just wondering if anyone else had success with something else. I wonder how a Anderson H2 or H2+ would sound in the bridge position of this guitar?

I've got an Ibanez Destroyer with same wood and neck combo. Had a JB in there before the H2+, H2+ is much better.
 
I use ceramic warpig in my mahogany/maple neck/ebony freboard guitar. I love it... Alnico PU's gets too dark tho.
 
i've got an ibanez sz with that wood combo // set neck

tried a bunch of various pickups, settled on a 59 neck / JB in the bridge seems to work, although to be fair the stock neck was pretty good

If i'd do it over again I'd look maybe into the Tonezone for the bridge even, the JB got a nice tone and takes boosts well

i'd like a bit more chunk shall we say, it's fairly bright sounding guitar

Otherwise i'm thinking the Rio Grande BBQ would be awesome in the bridge
 
Dimarzio AT-1 works very well for that wood combination. I have it in a carvin with a set neck. Used the dimarzio pickup finder program, and it has never failed me. The AT-1 really helped tame the chirp.
 
How is the H2+ better than the JB?

I have a Suhr Standard with mahogany body/maple neck and the stock Suhr Aldrich sounds great in the rear location. The Aldrich is more versatile than I would have thought, really cleans up well with the guitars volume knob.
 
I put a set of DiMarzio Breeds in my Ibanez V, and I like them. That is Maple neck-through Mahogany wings. I'm not usually a DiMarzio fan, but that sounds good to me.

If we're talking active I'd go with a EMG60-X in the neck and a Seymour Duncan ABH1 at the bridge - sounds crushing with high gain!!!
 
Active: EMG 81/60

Passives:
Motor City Pickups Garuda Set (open and well balanced with great mids)
Suhr Aldrich Set (fat and clear)
Duncan Custom 5/Jazz (if you like smooth and full)
Duncan Alt 8/Jazz (if you like open and bitey)
 
I put a tone zone in the bridge slot in my S540 and it was perfect. The maple neck sounded killer but left a very bright tone. TZ darkened up quite a bit and was fairly hot.

Im sure you could get better with a motor city or something high end which I almost did but on a budget i recommend TZ.

I really do miss playing through my actives tho, nothing like it for metal, really wanna try GUS G's end of rant.
 
I've got an S and I completely rewired it with Dimarzio's, a Breed in the bridge and a Gravity Storm in the neck. I'm liking it so far.
