I have a duncan distortion in it now and it sounds pretty good, but sometimes I wish it was fuller sounding. thicker I guess.

any recommendations?

guitar is an rg 570 with edge

Dimarzio X2N sounds great in mine. I also like the Seymour Duncan SH5 Custom in basswood/alder bodies.

Breed would be good. But it isn't going to be really high output like the Distortion. Try picking up an Alnico 8 magnet and swap it for the ceramic in the Distortion. I just did this to my Duncan Custom 5 and its thick as hell.

Somebody is going to say the Rio Grande BBQ, but I thought it was mud city in my LP.

Years ago, I had a RG550 that I put a Duncan Distortion in. Sounded GREAT!! Maybe give that a try.

I've yet to find any pickups that make basswood sound good to my ears for heavy rhythm stuff.

bare knuckle muffin man...

RG550 basswood here too. I was thinking Air Zone (bridge) and Air Norton (neck) for a fuller, thicker, cleaner lead tone..... Marcello, McAlpine, etc.

I just stay away from basswood now. Woods like mahogany and alder sound 100 times better to me.

I loved it in my Strat, my RG 507 and my LP Studio. The RG`s are much thinner sounding than an LP, so I don`t think mud will be an issue :) That said, I LOVE the Suhr Aldrich in my Strat after changing the volume pot to a 500k!!

Tone zone bridge, air norton neck, blue velvet middle single coil. Killed on an RG-570 I had. Dimarzios go great with those guitars.

Keep the Distortion. Buy a Dano Fish n' Chips for $30. You can thicken up the tone from the guitar, add mids, cut treble, and or do a bunch of other things. Plus, if you want to go back to the Distortion plain, just take the pedal out of the signal path.

Do you pull up on the bar?

If not block it by making a wood block and throw it against the trem cavity and the sustain block of the edge, my 565 is set up that way and the guitar is very full sounding. Then again sometimes you just have a not so full guitar on your hands.

I prefer just using a Tremol-no.

Just talking maybe getting a fatter tone, imo the block between the sustain block and body may transfer a tad more energy.

I do need to try one of those, I am way behind on that :scared:

I would take greazygeo's advice. Or, I put an Evolution in mine and loved it also. I have always been a SD guy but for some reason Dimarzio's sound better in basswood bodies.

I have mahogany and alder guitars, yet the reference to which a guitar is measured still is my basswood Tom Anderson.
