Hello all,

It's been a while since I've posted on this forum. I've been quite busy trying to build up my business, Pitch Black Electronics. I'm finally ready to make a general announcement that brings it to people's attention here on Rig-Talk. Admins, if this type of post is not allowed, please let me know and I will remove it. Apologies in advance.

Presently I am a one-man operation out of Bloomfield Hills, MI and I can build custom effects, do mods and repairs, as well as custom printed circuit board layouts. This week I finished the first production run of my flagship pedal, the Golden Spiral. I actually already made a post regarding them in the Gear Classifieds section. I plan on producing more pedals, whether in small batches, one-offs to be sold on forums and on eBay or as my standard line such as the Golden Spiral.

To give some background on myself, I have a BS in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University and five years experience working for a small engineering design and prototyping firm here in Metro Detroit. While I was there I learned professional circuit board design, test engineering, software and hardware engineering and assembly for the automotive, aerospace, defense and consumer electronics industries. I combined my professional experience with my passion for music in late 2008 when I started modding and building pedals for myself and my friend and bandmate. In February of this year I was laid off from my day job and I decided to give this thing a go full-time. I'm tired of working for the Man and I know I will never be happy behind an office desk. If I could name drop a bit, I've done some assembly and PCB design work for Egnater and Devi Ever and I've done some mods and custom work for members of this forum, Matt (Phrygian) and Dan (bbaug14). I have a commitment to providing the customer with the tone they want, built with professional engineering quality and attention to detail.

If you are at all interested in my pedals or want more information on what I can do, please visit one of the various sites below or e-mail me directly at Gino [at] PitchBlackElectronics [dot] com. Or you can obviously reply to this post in order for everyone to see what you have to say. :)

Hey, thanks! Yeah, I could definitely make a Univibe. E-mail me at Gino [at] PitchBlackElectronics [dot] com and we can talk details!

Gino is awesome to deal with! Super nice guy and super quality work! Definitely support him, he's awesome and so are his products!

This one's mine...a custom project I had done, now available as a production model I believe!

i'd love to hear that phaser! got any clips?

I'll have to make some eventually. It's a DOD FX20-B Stereo Phaser, re-housed, modded for true bypass, power connection modded to a standard center negative, and a kick ass look. They're a little darker, thick, and have an amazing amount of control and flexibility.

No, I didn't make it a production pedal. Another customer saw it and decided that they had to have it, too.

What he said! :D

I have both the phaser and the wah by PBE. Both are awesome. After having the mods done, it was like seeing colors I'd never seen before. Hands down the best wah I've ever had or heard, and I've had several (Morley, Vox, Dunlop, etc.). More range, more depth, and more kick ass factor. Being able to adjust the scoop you are looking for is an awesome feature.

The phaser with the mods is the best phaser I've ever owned. The tone it produces and ranges make it much better than the classic Phase 90 IMHO. Gino does a bunch of Phase 90 stuff too though, if that's what you are into.

The Golden Spiral is a pretty sick pedal too, and the vids online really don't do justice to what it sounds like in person. Run it through a clean channel and it still sounds absolutely amazing. It is very versitile and you can get a lot out of one pedal with that thing.

I also have a tube screamer with a bunch of extra options, including a boost with a seperate switch that Gino designed for me. It has selectable MOSFETs to get a wide range of tones, amoung other things. It can do the TS9-TS808 in spades and a whole lot more. Awesome pedal.

Can't say enough about the quality and workmanship these pedals have. PBE makes amazing stuff and Gino will work with you to get the pedals to the specs you're looking for. Definitely check out his stuff.

got any clips or vids of the wah?
No, I don't yet, but I could shoot some clips of it. I've got the same thing on my board. It's a modified Crybaby, however, I'm going to be putting some time in to really work out a slightly different design as I'm not 100% happy with it. Stay tuned!

Thanks for all the kind words, Dan!
