Today I had some new tubes that I had to put in, and my amp needed to be biased. So, I sought out help with fellow rigtalk member Mike, aka, FourT6and2. First off, he was super cool to take the time out of his day to show me how to bias my amp. And the problem I had a few days ago with the hum and blown fuses was solved with the new tubes. My amp was once again quiet and I am no longer ampless which was dreadful.

While I was at Mikes house, he showed me some of the amps he has built. The quality of the work was basically perfect, I have never seen such perfect soldering, and such a well put together amp.

And the best part, the amp he built was simply UNBELIEVABLE. It sounded huge, yet totally articulate, was really punchy, had that gritty Cameronesque grind, had great touch sensitivity, and just KILLED! He has the new Hiwatt 50 at his house and that amp was awesome, but the amp he built, or I should say, ONE of the amps he built was every bit as good, both the sound and feel. The amp he built also had killer tone shaping options and had many awesome tones within.

I would rank the amp with any amp out there, no joke, it is that good. If anyone ever gets a chance to play it, do it, you will be blown away. I was, I have a killer Friedman, and Mikes amp hung with my amp no problem. He has built a great amp. I would LOVE to be able to build an amp like that.

thanks for the help Mike!

He seems like a super smart guy. I would love to have the skill set and patience to build amps like he does. Glad to hear he is a cool helpful dude, too.

I enjoy the amp build pictures he posts and appreciate his attention to detail. He does some really nice work for sure.

Seems knowledgable, I wish he was local to me!

Hey Mike, happy to help. Glad it was a simple fix and that your amp is up and running again :)
Yours is the best sounding Friedman I've played.

What Friedman is that?

I had an SS100 that I sent back to Dave to be more like a BE/JJ. Made it brighter, got negative feedback, SAT switch, etc. Its a great amp. But, thje amp Mike build is truly incredible. I was blown away. he knows what he is doing.

Mike is a monster builder. My SLO he built is a beast.

Thanks guys :)
There are lots of people out there much better/smarter at this stuff than I am. I just do what I can to enjoy it.
