I have been using Quick Rods since 2010. The '09 I got back in early part of 2010 is now being used by my rhythm guitarist and he is playing it through a straight vintage Marshall 4x12 with V30s. I think it sounds killer! His tone overall seems a little more raw to me and I dig it. He is loving the amp too...upgrade over the DSL100 he used for years.
I now have the fully loaded newest rev of the Quick Rod. I still live on Gear 2, but find Gear 3 much more usable on this one and kick over to it once in a while for Metallica or Drop D heavy stuff.
I am still experimenting with the Drop B+ option. At first I thought it was making the amp lose that tight response for rhythm playing, but I think it was more a result of too much gain (this one doesn't need to be as high for the same gain levels as the older one) and driving the front too hard with added dB boost on my wireless. The last show I used the amp for I ran it in B+ to see how it felt playing leads and I thought my low end was staying together much better.
