The Gower Rockmonster is an amazing amp. It has a TREMENDOUS amount of gain on tap. 5 gain stages. killer fx loop. 2 footswitchable channels, both have gain and master. There is a toggle switch for gain structure, one is thicker and beefier and the other is a bit more articulate and clear. the depth knob is a push/pull for either a mid boost or bass boost using the depth. I dialed in many different tones. rarely have I come across an amp that sounds good no matter how you dial it in. It can do 80s stuff to full blown metal. there is a shit load of usable gain on tap. I have played the Cali, and I would take the gain on the Rockmonster any day of the week. The touch sensitivity and overall feel is great. The Cali is more versatile according to Dan Gower, but the gain and tone shaping capabilities of the Rockmonster is amazing. I peeled the volume back and got a pretty good clean tone as well. For what it is, the clean will do. I know the killer cali has a clean channel. This amp is a high gain paradise. I will try and put some clips together. I just have to get something to record them with.
here is a link to a couple clips of the Rockmonster of Dan playing:

The amp I am playing is the actual amp from the clips, it was Dan's personal amp for a few years. It is a 79 100 watt JMP, and Dan said he pretty much gutted it and made the perfect amp for himself for his needs. It really is one hell of an amp. I would love to see what amp he is playing now and what he has done to it. His mods are incredible. Too bad he is not in the US, he would get a ton more work. it is costly to ship an amp back and forth to Europe. but if you have the cash, it is more than worth it. if anyone in the san fran bay area would like to check it out, let me know.
