Can't wait for this show, always loved UFO so many classic tracks. Shame it isn't with Schenker, but I've seen them before with the current line up and they absolutely rock live!

Vinnie Moore is the man as far as I'm concerned, will have to get him to shred out some Morning Star.

Now excuse me while I go and listen to Lights out on repeat

Congrats.... I think Vinnie is an awesome player and a great guy but He hasnt wowed me with UFO. Id love to see him pay a bit more homage to Schenker in his interpretations of UFO tunes but thats just me nitpicking..

Saw them last year. Vinnie is the best live guitarist I've ever seen.
I was 3 feet from him and he didn't drop a note all night and he was playing some really complicated lines.
Incredible.

Congrats! I'd love to share a stage (or even open for) such a great player.

Cheers guys, I think Vinnie is a good fit for UFO and is criminally underrated. He definitely adds his own vibe to the tunes though so I could see how people would prefer a more true to the original live experience. He is a very different guitar player to Schenker though, so I enjoy his take on the classic tunes.

Vinnie is incredible.. I agree though at times that he strays a tad too much from some of Shenker's mastery and goes a tad too fusion for me but then he brings it back with some tasty runs and pedal tone stuff and all is harmonious in the world.

Vinnie Moore is one of my favorite players and an influence on me. Saw this line up at BB King's here in NYC 3 years ago. Enjoy that gig!

Very cool! Paul Chapman is my guitar instructor!
Man does he have some stories.

I love Vinnie and I'm glad that he got the UFO gig as he is a huge fan. With that said, how do you replace Mike? Vinnie's got a lot of great pentatonic licks up his sleeve, but his Carlton influence is so strong, that he still has that jazzer sound in his solos; which makes for a different UFO, more American sounding.

Vinnie was my favorite shrapnel guy and one of my very first influences (only because I started playing guitar in November and the following January he was on the cover of all of the guitar magazines talking about Minds Eye, so I bought them to learn about this new hot shot).

Thought I'd post a quick update from the show.

Firstly UFO were amazing, it's incredible how they just put most 'young' bands too shame. They were tight, everyone nailed their parts and they just put on a proper rock show. Vinnie was another level, that man has all the licks and then some. His tone was really cool high gain Marshall, he seemed to be using more gain than some of the vids I've seen but for the better as his tone was rocking with as far as I could see was just a boosted Marshall DSL. I will hopefully get sent some pictures/vids in the next few days and upload them.

Here are a few pics from our Facebook of the gig:

vinnie is the man, remember standing within 10feet of him in some dump in Staten Island around the time he released "Meltdown", 91 I think. Watched some amazing playing that night, shame all the other folks in there could not appreciate it or understand it.

Kind of glad that he is not imitating schenker though in UFO. Same reason why Steve Morse should not sound like Ritchie.

Is he still in the South Brevard area? My brother-in-law knows him from way back, he had done some work on Chapman's instructional videos, I believe in the '80s.
