Asking about the brand you gravitate towards when you get a new guitar that doesn't sound the way you want it to. You can select two.

depends on the guitar. i have some with EMG's & those are being trasitioned to either SD or MCP. I also have 1 guitar that has a duncan distortion in it & that might be changed for a MCP Afwayu.

I'm not particular to a certain brand. What works best in that guitar I guess.

There is lore of a RigTalk local pickup winding legend that went by the brand name of ToneNerd. His pickups were so magical, that panties drop at the mere mention of them. Alas, he made the journey to the Land of the Rising Sun to stand upon the mountain and prophesize to all that listen, rendering his musical magical pickups unavailable....for now (we hope).

MCP for the most part. My #1 pickup choice is the Detroiter neck and bridge for low-medium output (bridge is 9k-ish).
Afwayu for the heat in the bridge position (16.5k) if thats what I want for that guitar.
MCP T-wrecks are great for a low output t-top thing @ 7.5k + or -.
The 2nd degree bb's are good too, but I prefer the Detroiters with just that little bit extra juice.

I also really like the Duncan custom 5 for a slightly brighter and scooped tone vs the Afwayu. Bottom end is a touch bigger too, but can be a bit much in an already beefy sounding guitar.
Another guy on here says its the best pickup duncan makes, and I agree 👍

Most pickup companies have a few models I find sound good, but every time I switch a guitar back to MCP's, it just sounds better.
