They are great for a home theater. I used to use a Lexicon pre with a Nakamichi poweramp and used them in between. Really sounded great on spoken dialogue.

I use one, not too much though. I have a sonic stomp on my board in front of the amp. I use it for some of my clean sounds.

i know people rag on sonic maximizers all the time but it sounds good with some amps. i used to put one in the loop of an ampeg vh140c and it really brought that amp to life. its an awesome crunchy solid state amp, but with the maximizer seemed to be put some more snap in there for metal tones. then on the only hand the maximizer makes 5150s sound like a can of bees haha

In my PA rig. They are not ment for a guitar rig. They are meant for pro audio to dial a rig in for a room. If they sound good to you in your rig, you have it dialed in for you. It's not going to sound good to the croud, and it's not going to sound good with a close mic. You can get the same results with a compressor. Just use a compressor on your guitar rig and use the sonic maximizer to dial in a pro audio rig or home theater.

I agree. I used one for three years. It collected dust after 10 years. On a P.A. system it does sound really good, especially up front. I bought mine when I was in my Vito Bratta phase. I had an ADA MP-1, CArvin FET400, Sonic Maximizer 822, and an Alesis Quadraverb.

I agree. I used one for three years. It collected dust after 10 years. On a P.A. system it does sound really good, especially up front. I bought mine when I was in my Vito Bratta phase. I had an ADA MP-1, CArvin FET400, Sonic Maximizer 822, and an Alesis Quadraverb.

No WAYYY man Ive used one for 5 years, mostly on my distortion channels and it gives it BITE. Its like a bass and treble on steroids, I would NEVER play without one. If someone stole mine id go out and buy one 2 days later.

I dont know why you would say people rag on them, I wouldn't play without mine. If they're not meant for a rig, why are they in pedal form?

I heard that and I wanted to try it, but I didnt know how to run it because it has a 1/4 inch jack. So where exactly are you suposed to put it, and what connectors does it use? What model you got?

When I had it....I ran it in the loop.

PA rig if I had to use one, but I haven't used one for at least 8 years. Good equipment doesn't need one.

What eq pedal? im looking at getting the ge 7 cuz thats the one modeled after the one in guitar pro 6

Thats the one I picked up. Set it right about flat line with VERY MINOR tweaks of the sliders....when you kick it on....VERY NOTICEABLE. Dont color the tone....just seems like you injected the amp with Steroids.

If they're not meant for a rig, why are they in pedal form?

For bass players who want to sinc up their bass frequencies with their treble for more punch. Guitars do not have a wide enough frequency range to benefit from a sonic maximizer. You'd be better off with a compressor and an EQ pedal. You'd get the better results.
