Up for sale is a very rare Ibanez MIJ SA-420X. It's basically an S series with added electronics for a Piezo pickup via the SAT30SX tremolo bridge saddles, made by LR Baggs.
It has two output jacks one for the piezo direct signal to go to the PA or an acoustic amp, and the other jack is for both the electric pickups and Piezo, which is then selectable with the mini toggle switch (Humbuckers/Mix/Piezo).
The infamous V7 and V8 pickups are also wired in a unique way. While the 5 way switch works as usual, the neck/middle position (position 4) is actually the neck wired in parallel, this gives a very single coil-esque tone, and is still noise-cancelling. Sounds great on clean!
The tremolo works quite well, the bar is not original but works, it's a push-in style, that you then tighten with a set screw that is hidden under the backside of the tremolo. You have to dive the bar to get to the set screw. The pickup rings don't seem original. Hard case is included. Being a japanese made guitar, the fretwork and nut work is phenomenal as expected. You won't have any issues with playing this instrument. No fret buzz, frets are level, neck is straight. Please see photos for wear.
The weight is closer to the 7.6-8lbs mark.
Overall this is a great and unique guitar. I was basically in a Petrucci phase and was on the hunt for a poor man's music man JP and this did it for me but now that I've got my fix, it's time to move on to something else. Have this on reverb too, happy to sell to an RT member off reverb if preferred.
Asking $895 plus shipping OBO. Paypal FF preferred.
