I am Straight Edge; I've NEVER had alcohol in my body, I've never had narcotics in my body (except during/after surgery), and I've been with one girl intimately by choice. Obviously it's not religious..it's a choice I made at a young age due to a family full of addicts.

I broke my ankle mini golfing during my MMA training hahaha...the surgery that followed was the only time I had narcotics. I refused Vicodin so they gave me Tylenol 3 - Tylenol and Codeine.

For several years, I was a member of an outlaw bike club that has chapters in many places. Prospected for nearly a year to earn my patch. I also earned my 1% and *FF* badges the hard way. where the F = Forever...the * is meant to not disclose the name of the club.

I left the club. I'm thankful to be alive, with all my parts in working order - in case you don't know, they don't like it when you leave..., and also thankful I'm not doing / never did hard time. Deo gratias (thanks be to God).

Please don't ask the name of the club, location or any other details. I'm not talking about or posting more on this topic.

wow, so those type of clubs do exist! man I wonder about all the weird dark shit those guys must do.

I almost died 6 years ago.
I've sustained over 20 concussions in my life
.

V. :salute:

Dude, Stay off of Whistler!
Appreciated - only a few of those concussions were sustained in extreme ski comps or freeskiing; the majority of those puppies happened with a) downhill mountain bike racing, b) streetbike racing, c) just landing on my head a lot.

As for the nearly dying 6 years ago - let's just say I'm clean and sober, now into my 6th year

V.

PS - on skis? Dude... I feel more comfortable on skis than I do in sneakers

Thank god you're ok V, we need you around here bro!

Cool thread Joey!! Kinda like a big group share for a bunch of gear addicts... Interesting stuff. I'm still behooved at the 4 nuts 1 sack scenario, and even more so with Barzini's comment

So it goes.

As for barefoot hiking, I try to go barefoot 24/7 when on holidays in the tropics. I drive barefoot, shop barefoot, everything. it's the way our feet were supposed to be on this earth - gives one a sense of connectedness. I can't really do that here, considering half the year there's several feet of snow, and even with hot summers, can't really go around showing multimillion dollar homes to people barefoot. So it goes. But man, I dig bare feet. My wife, 3 year old daughter, and me (our one year doesn't really know shit yet, but it'll come) all walk around the home barefoot. Socks come off with the shoes. And no, we're not hippies.

Anyway, y'all have a good night - this was a very cool thread Joey.

Peace, Namaste, ZoSo,
Mojo

Well, actually its to become stronger, you must use proper running form when you hike like that. Also, its fun as hell.. something about being connected to the earth... and like the dude above said, it is how we evolved. You might be surprised how it feels :)

Dude, last fall in India I went 15 km barefoot around a mountain with a million of my closest new friends...but there it's a ceremony of rebirth and the mountain is the embodiment of SHiva.

This is awesome; I'm kind of a lit nerd myself. Could you guide me to where I could find/read some of your work?

thanks

I only wear shoes when needed .... the feet will become very hard if you do this most of the time. When the winter is over and I have been wearing shoes most of the time my feet are soft till it builds up again. By mid summer I can run on a gravel road with no pain.

It's been a few years. I can send you stuff if you shoot me your email. I have a few "collection of works" books packed away I'm in. Plus a few journals and periodicals. I even did gear reviews for a few industry mags about 10 years ago. It was a requirement of my English degrees to get yourself published. Nothing real big, but fun stuff. And I took the original pics that were used for the Marsha adds. It was cool my mom in N.C. could just go to the store and buy a magazine and see it.

I love water. Really love it. Whether it be in liquid or snow form, I'm always Skiing/Snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, kite surfing, etc...
Whenever I'm not doing those things, I play guitar.

I'm from Belgium, and whenever I have the chance (after I graduate), I'm definitely moving to the other side of the world! Preferably California. Partly because there's great surf there :).
Oh yeah, and I'm studying 3D animations and Visual FX for film which isn't something most people do :).

I drove an 18 wheeler for 14 years, now an IT manager
was an active model railroader for 25 years

I have no real friends, my life is literally the movie I Love You Man

Same here. Must be a personality flaw on my part. I get along with most everyone but I always manage to keep a good bit of space. Always have. I have acquaintances, people I share common interests with. As far as "friends" maybe 1, lives about 4 states away and I talk to him 4-5 times year. Thing is, I've always known it, and it doesn't really bother me. But I guess it does, or I wouldn't be posting it on a forum for everyone to read :scared:

I'm pretty boring actually, but here are a couple of things:

1. I'm a huge hockey fan and play ice hockey on 3 adult leage teams in my area.

2. I don't eat chicken, beef, pork. I occasionally eat seafood, but trying to keep that to a minimum. My goal is to have at least 2 dinners per week that are completely animal product free (Vegan).

Cool! I was straight-edge for many years, but I'm old now and occasionally drink a bit.

I have OCD. I check lights, Taps, Doors, Cooking appliances are off by touching the switch 7 times. I have no idea why, it's a real drain on my time. I only tend to do it when leaving the house and going to sleep, but i spend about an hour out of my day checking stuff. The same applies when writing emails or txt messages. I will have read this numerous times before posting to check for errors and very often I still miss them lol. The worst part is I'm starting to wash my hands too often to the point of getting cracked skin, affecting my playing.

Anybody else got OCD? Cool thread by the way :-)
