Until yesterday I would have said my Quick Rod and Splawn 2x12 was the most massive portable tone around, especially with the half-power switch. However, yesterday I received a Jet City JCA24S+ (Oversized. JCA24S that is THD ported and has JetDirect XLR output on the back. That cab sounds MONSTER!!! For the price I think it's the deal of the century. Played it with my older Quick Rod and my Ceriatone AFD #35 and both just SLAYED. Doug is putting out some killer stuff that is worthy of some serious attention. Could have used this cab last weekend at Paladino's. Between Splawn and Jet City with the OEM Eminence speakers Celestion is kind of taking a back seat. That little Epiphone 1x12 rig I posted has a Splawn Big Block on board. In front is a BOSS POWER STACK and DD-20. Simple. Oh, and it'll drive a 4x12. Then again so will that little Smokey amp, but only for about 20 seconds before the 9V battery screams for mercy...
My new grab 'n go rig is my Jet City JCA22H + JCA24S+. Can light up a decent sized venue with great tone and Channel switching. Got your great drivers, got your D.I., what more could you need? Modulation delay in the loop? Carbon Copy... Or DD-20... Done.
Honorable mention goes to the Hughes & Kettner Switchblade 100C. Great all-in-one 2x12 -- just heavy... If they put the Hughes & Kettner Red Box D.I. on the Switchblade/Coreblade that would be a serious contender.
