My last (and only as you will soon realize) jam session with a drummer found online was pretty good musically. But the rehearsal spot in his basement was a wall to wall porn collage. And not mild Playboy centerfolds, it was nothing but hardcore shit from Hustler or Swank  And then the night ended a bit early when his ex-dropped off his young daughter because they were sharing custody. She didn't go to the basement when I was there but a huge WTF ?

I think I showered twice that night when I got home....
Thats hilarious lol

That must be a drummer thing, I've known two that had such practice space decor. It helps to have met them first and assessed they were 'nice dudes' before seeing their 'wallpaper.'

I've been pretty fortunate in the past finding bands. Vegas has been tough. Lots of mediocre players that think they are all going to rule the world.

There are some amazing players as well but it's a wired scene.

Pretty much always found success on CL and various magazines
The key is to act and represent yourself as a professional and you will attract like minded players

The person has to have a job, How's he going to help pay for the practice space? Band expenses? Getting to fucking practice? Lol

Have the vision have some songs, Meet these people because you are auditioning them at a rehearsal place. That will definitely scare off 1/2.

The hard part is finding a drummer once you have your drummer you can control everything else

If they can't send me an MP3 of their playing I'm not auditioning then. I can't think of a band situation where I wouldn't be exchanging song ideas with somebody over the Internet. It is 2013!

No stoners, seriously. I will have a beer during band practice because i probably just got off of a 12 hour day, a six pack at practice between bros is practically law. drooling on your Mesa? not good. I have played in bands with stoners they're pretty much useless. A completely stoned band is very 1972....

Recap!
Solid intelligently written ad check your spelling
Show intent and ability to execute
Meet in professional rehearsal places
Tell them you need to hear them first and tell them they will be auditioned ...
Be a pro about it don't settle, this is your band

And get out to as many shows as you can. Musicians to talk to each other sometimes people arent happy in the bands they in are now

Any of you all EVER found any players worth a darn on CL that weren't total flakes?

No, I haven't. So I just decided to do it all myself :)

I posted an ad for a singer last year. I got two solid singers to audition within two days. We chose one and its been going well since. I might be doing the same for a bass player soon.

I agree with all of this. We have a really good rehearsal studio in town that provides full back line and PA which is great. $25 bucks an hour and 24 hour availability.
