I thought the 34s sounded great and chunky at the start...but the mids are so much nicer on the GEs...
And when I hear or play my guitar solo,, I always think more bass and scooped sounds great, until you mix the rest of the band in...

very nice comparison... I'd take those GE 6CA7s all day long.....superior mids.

Play some Van Halen with those 6ca7's in there, I bet it would be dope. I'd take the 6ca7's but I bet the winged C's are more dependable in the long run.

More dependable than NOS 6CA7's? I don't think so...

Hmmm.... Hard to say. the 6ca7s were clearer, but the el34s sounded beefier.

+1

Seemed like the EL34's had a little more compression going on there which is something I like a lot. Imagine, a tube amp that acts and sounds like a tube amp. who would have thought of that?!?!?

The 6CA7's seemed a little "hi-fi" by way if comparison to me, cleaner and clearer in the upper mids. Definately surprised about the lack of bass and low mids as compared to the El34's.

I think the first pair sounds slightly more open to me, compressed in a different way than the second pair which has a bit more crunch. I like the mids of the second pair more. What I can tell from those clips, they sound pretty similar overall, and both types work well. The first pair I would use for riffs, and the second for longer drawn out chords or solo. But they do sound very close.

Thanks for watching.

I think I will make a video of original Mullard EL34 XF2's. You think the GE's sound good... the Mullards really sound good

I've got some of those.

The differences are too subtle to give a shit.

BTW sounds great.

At first i liked the GE better! but after listening more my ears found the Winged C's a little more pleasing!
I like the fact that it was a chris oliva song better than the tubes..Long Live The Tage!!!!!!!

I liked them both. The GEs cut through the mix better and seemed to have more attack in the upper mids, but the Cs seemed to have more depth and girth.

...but then again who cares what tubes you were using?...you're playing SAVA!

I was playing a bunch of VH before I pulled out the camera. I heard a lot of VH1 and VH2 in the tone. VH is fun to play, but I get bored since I have played so much of it ;)

FWIW, the GE would out last the Winged C's....

Thanks for checking out the videos everyone.

Sorry, I misread and thought they were GT GE6ca7 reissues.
But make a VH clip!

Both sound awsome..

Btw.. what preamp tubes do you have in there?

dude i like the 6ca7, have u ever tried old Siemans EL34's ? they were my favorite for the non-master Marshalls but hard to get them now.
