Have you tried new tubes in it from what i can tell it looks like that is the only thing broken. Talk with trace about fixing it if anything else is broke I'm sure he could help you.

The choke is ripped off and lying on its side disconnected. It is repairable, but more than a tube issue...

Steve

Is it something I can repair? I have decent soldering skills, I solder all my own pickups in my guitars.

Thump,
I've already PM'ed shredhead666 about the issue and am awaiting a reply. I really don't see what the need is to do this privately, either he will choose to do something or not, making this public shouldn't be the deciding factor for him. Paul is a good guy, I've actually dealt with him before, the reason for this post is not to call him out, but to get opinions and suggestions for the next course of action.

So did shredhead666 ever reply to your PM or did you post this without hearing from him first?

Not putting a fragile sticker on the box doesn't mean a thing.

+1 Fragile stickers don't mean jack. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a box marked Fragile doesn't get an extra kick now and again.

If a box shows up on my doorstep looking like that, I don't open it unless the delivery guy is there to watch.

Some pictures of the box and packing before it was shipped, if any exist, would go a long ways towards settling this I think.

I ordered a car shipped USPS, the seller forgot to put a fragile sticker on it and well, :D

If that's the case, why didn't you wait to see if this could get resolved prior to posting it up here? Have you even heard back from him re: this issue? At best we have Amatuer Hour Packing Job, and a guy who asks to have a customs declarations document falsified (is that a word?)...neither side is going to get much sympathy round' here. Your best bet would've been to get the situation handled - then report to the masses how it all got worked out. If you need to ask everybody here how to proceed, you should probably stick to buying amps in your own neighborhood.

I would re-word this thread title personally. Especially since you haven't heard back from him yet and this has already been posted publicly..

I sell stuff to people in other countries all the time. I'd say 95% of the time they ask me to mark the value very low because they get hit extremely hard with customs fees and such.

Yea, you got a shit deal, but calling someone out (whether you say that's what you're doing or not) without talking to them first is just BS.

If he did nothing to handle it, then ok, call him out....but you haven't really given the guy a chance.

In my opinion you should have tryed to work this out privately. I know it really sucks what happened and you're freakin right now, but starting a thread and naming names before he even knows about what happened is a little uncool.

Your thread title and your words contradict what you say as "not calling him out" If I saw this myself I would be pissed if it wasn't done privately. It gives a bad name to him and he hasn't even had a chance to respond yet, just from seeing this thread most people would probably avoid dealing with him in the future :scared: . You could have received opinions if you left it anonymous.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a handful of foam borders" but foam borders and foam corners are what the high end amp companies use when they ship very expensive amps. You don't need bubblewrap at all with good foam borders. I don't know that he used good foam borders though.

Also I own a store and the only amp company that i have ever dealt with that pulls the tubes before shipping is Splawn.

Oh, and bringing this to the board before just settling things with the guy you bought it from? Way uncool. If it was me you'd bought it from, I'd be inclined to tell you to go "pound salt". Even if he refunds you completely, lets you keep the amp and sends you a box of chocolates, all any of us are ever going to remember is to stay away from deals with him. You runied his reputation without giving him a chance to make things right.

Nickname009 FTL.

And FRAGILE stickers? You gotta be kidding me. Nothing invites shipping monkeys to abuse a box more than putting Fragile stickers on it.

Note to self, do not EVER deal with Nickname009 on anything. On here, or on ebay.

For me, it would be the other way around, honestly.

Probably, but it still damages his reputation regardless if it was resolved or not

But yeah, this thread probably did more damage to the original poster than to the seller

I've never removed the tubes from any amp I've shipped...and that's been around 30 or more. I've only received maybe 1 or 2 with the tubes removed as well. If the amp is packed well, that doesn't matter IMO.

+1. I never removed tubes from amps i shipped. If the amp is package well enough you shouldn't have to worry. And with amps, you need to use a shitload of bubblewrap or some sort of foam. Some of the stuff i have packaged had soo much bubblewrap i could bounce it off the ground like a dodgeball.

And yes, fragile stickers don't mean shit.

Holy crap. Talk about making the worst of a bad situation.

This kind of thing is why I like to take pictures of the packaging process when shipping fragile stuff. I am suddenly very thankful there are no moving/removable parts on pickups... ;)

Not knowing shredhead's side of the story, I am left thinking... This is why there is shipping insurance, which you chose to circumvent. Sometimes the methods justify the means and sometimes when you play with fire, you get burned.

Sorry this happened to you and Shred-dude. I would call this a lose/lose, unless there was some massive negligence on the shipper's part.

+1 totally agree with all your posts in this thread.

This thread is calling out the seller before he even gets a chance to respond, whether that was intended or not. When you say to undervalue the insurance for shipping, you are taking this risk. What I would do as the seller in this case, is split the value of the repairs that Trace does. I also think Shredhead is owed an apology for this thread. Also you are not helping the cause for Americans to want to ship to Canada. This type of issue would make me think twice about shipping an amp to my neighbors to the north.

As for the tube issue, I always ask the buyer if they want me to ship the amp with tubes in or out. Most want me to leave the tubes in. That way the tubes in or out issue rests with the buyer....

i'll bring this cool pic back from beyond
