Real preamp, V1 & V2 capture - same tube power amp!

My theory was always that the tube amp feel was mainly because of the power amp section. There was absolutely NO difference in feel whatsoever in this test. The upcoming Wampler Pedal Amp will hopefully close this gap forever and will make sterile solid state power amps be history. Anyways - did you find out what the real amp was? Did you hear a difference?

Saw you posted this the other day, I was able to pick out the amp but they are getting real close. The arpeggiated riff around 42 seconds gave it away. I've done the same thing with tonex in the power section and going back and forth some models work really well.

I can still feel a little compression on the digital stuff but its just going to keep getting better. Hadn't heard of the pedalhead until now, checking it out

yep - the apreggiated riff is the only part that gives it away - well done! But you probably can‘t hear that at all in a live situation. The thing I discovered was that the main part for the feel was actually the tube power amp not so much the preamp and in 3 years modelers will be at a point where those 1% difference will be gone as well I guess.

Interested in that pedalhead now, his video with Danish Pete at NAMM fooled me. Cool stuff

Thinking about this more I think modellers sometimes fall flat live because they are missing the additional cabinet stage volume in addition to the pa. Having the option to do both with the wampler is pretty sweet and will likely sound great. I'll take any excuse to still lug my 412 around I guess

it is not only the cabinet missing on stage! Thats one main part. But it is also the missing dynamic just using a basic transparent solid state power amp.
