The PCB's on uber-expensive preamps are almost unbendable. like 3/16" thick. I can't IMAGINE anything, aside from a hammer causing damage between a socket and a durable PCB.

VHT (now Fryette Amplication) uses double sided FR4 PCBs, which are good. I am only talking about single sided PCBs. My experience is with consumer electronics, not amps. However we had a board that was single sided CEM1 material and we had trouble with our larger components lifting solder pads after about 1-2 years. When we changed to double sided FR4 we stopped seeing these issues. This is due to the double sided FR4 PCB having a plated through hole and pads on both sides of the board, not just one. Upon closer inspection I only see one preamp that it is clear has a single sided PCB and its a single sided FR4, its the sound clinic climax. The rest are either double sided FR4 (green) which is what we use mostly. Or a double sided chem board, which looks like the PCBs we use on our early prototypes.

My Marshall 2553 silver jubilee has a single sided PCB, but it doesn't have large components on it and it has been fine. I am just pointing out a potential issue and not trying to stir up crap.

Just 10 days ago, on Tue 13-th the #001 went into the hands of Jon Schaffer, as he's been in Vienna/Austria on tour w/ Iced Earth. I still had to buy winter tyres, to drive the 500km there, because on this day a huge snow chaos broke in over Bavaria Currently I'm working on the #002 for myself. The idea & planning already has started in summer 2008, but most of the design I've first done during Dec. 2008 & Jan. 2009

And how much for the preamp? Looks awesome.

Thanks! The final retail price still isn't calculated, but presumably will be about 2,200 EUR w/ current produced tubes (TungSol Reissue), or about 2,450 EUR w/ all NOS Tungsram ECC83 from the 70'

Btw: The 2 rack space 4-channel preamp seen some posts above is a design from 1993/94, when I've still built on solder strips - but it maybe will be coming soon again in an upgraded & reworked design. Still in my thoughts is a reborn of my 100W mono power amp from 1993
Let's see, what the future shows and whether I can find some helping and skilled hands, to push my waiting time back below the 12 months line.
