As some of you may know, I own a mark III blue stripe combo and a torpedo CAB. I ve been looking for an alternative solution to record using a preamp + the CAB. Also, the combo being so heavy, I find it difficult to move it around when going to the studio with my band. The mesa studio costs about 450 euros where I live and at the moment I don't want to spend more than 300 euros. The other guitarist owns an engl 530, so I m looking for something other than that one. Some suggestions...

1) Rocktron Piranha - not easy to find - test locally -
2) Hughes - Access about 300 euros
3) Diezel Vh4 - I used to have one - great for leads but not so tight

Any more suggestions? Again, I am rhythm guitar player, don't need the huge amount of gain for leads, tight riffing is what I seek!

Access. one of the best, if not the best preamp I ever had, thing will do alot.

Thx a lot for the answer dude! I'll have to make an offer to see if he can ship it to Greece from Italy

right on man, enjoy, I LOVED that preamp, prestine cleans to some nasty heavy ass tones....

Just out of curiosity, is it closer sounding to a marshall or mesa?

What about a Mesa V Twin pedal boosted with a TS9 variant ?

I didn't like the one I tried! Thx though!

Have you seen the video of Ola using his Fortin modded one into a Rocktron Velocity 300 for his backup rig ? Glorious...

Hmm could u please paste the link here? The problem is that all of his videos sound awesome. That guy could make the worst Amp sound amazing

I don't have the video clip available but Google it, the other, bigger problem would be getting Fortin to work on one...

A Fortin-modded V-twin to Greece, is about as possible as getting a Unicorn by mail, I think ? One thing is that Ola has one, but if you don’t have a name, getting Fortin to do it, is probably close to impossible.

Dude, that preamp is ultra rare and really expensive... My budget is like 300 euros haha

The Revv G3, and Mooer 005 are pretty cool. The Mooer GE200 is pretty flexible for cheap.

The Revv G3 is what I ve been told might work best with the torpedo CAB since it's a preamp not just a distortion pedal...
