So, really this is government working how it's meant to work. Introduce a policy, and then take feedback from the populace, adjust the policy to better match the will of the people.

Your opinion regarding the goal of the program is only that: your opinion.

Helping a few thousand people per year end their lives with dignity (the vast majority of whom will die soon anyway) will certainly not make much difference regarding the financial status of health care in general.

Also, you may not know that in Canada, health care is administered by the provinces (who are in charge of their own budgets). This MAID legislation is federal, so really the legislation doesn't have a fiscal motive. Any genuine savings from a reduced health care load would be mostly offset by the cost of administration for the MAID program.

I got a week vacation over thanksgiving. I’ll spend it roofing.

I'll check out the i8! However my vehicle budget is pretty much blown with the Silverado EV. Which I am extremely happy with as a work vehicle. I just hauled about 7000 lbs of trees for a fraction of the cost it would have been with my gas trucks.
