Just love this guy to death!
He has some really killer tone on this clip.
Not sure what he was playing thru but it sounds great!
One of the true Unsung Heroes on Guitar. ;)

Man that tone is killer killer killer! Thanks for posting that Dan. I'd love to know what amp that is. Mathias has always had a good tone and he still has it. Very underrated player IMO

That is some good tone. He's had some very memorable solos.

Love the stuff Mathias has done with the Scorpions, absolutely killer solos. A lot of people go on and on about the brown sound but the tones Mathias and Rudy got on Love Drive thru World Wide Live is some of my favorite stuff

His solo on "I can't get enough " on world wide live....
Just sings! ! Guy is amazing.

i think he is has been know to use kittyhawk, engl and wizard

from 2015

What are your amp setups?

Jabs: My Mastertone [Matthias Jabs Signature amp], the orange glowing thingy. Unfortunately, the guy who made them died this year. They’re great amps, and I fortunately have enough to last the whole rest of my career

All kinds of conflicting views on the net regarding what amps he is using. Found pics of a Fender Prosonic rig, also saw a Tonemaster amp and its well known he used SLO's for a long time. Also an older Marshall/Plexi I saw in a video done by Lehle switchers. Also this quote I found in an old guitar player interview...

"Jabs: I kept it very simple. I have my own amp now, the Mastertone. It’s hand wired. I used this amp throughout the recording and my Fender Tonemaster as well. I used them in combination most of the time, but sometimes, for leads, it was just the Mastertone."

Great tone... Love his playing. We did a couple of scorpion tune and some of his solos are really different.. Hard to... Great player

I went to high school in Germany in the 80's and it was right when "Love at Sting" came out. I started with that album and went back to "Blackout", then the entire Scorpions collection. I don't think people realize how many great songs these guys have. Some of my favorite songs are the ones that are not their biggest hits. Songs like "Dynamite", "Steamrock Fever", "Coast to Coast", etc., etc. are just so great. I hear a Scorpions song and it takes me back to being a teenager and learning guitar. I have "World Wide Live" on vinyl and I love listening to those old songs. :)

Coast to coast. ....
On world wide live. ...
That is a haunting lead.

Michael Schenker did the lead on the studio version , I`ll have to check out the WWL version tonight

I thought he was known to use Soldano amps.

Back in the day I think he and Rudy used 50 watt Marshalls. He used a Soldano on the Crazy World album

I wouldn't mind owning a modded SP77 in the rack somewhere...

One of my all time favorite players! His tone and leads on the 80's Scorps stuff is perfection. Just killer feel and crunch, always.
