Love him too. Posted similar thread last year , he is the king of the fill between verse and choruses.
Gear wise, hot ass bridge pup ( he used bill Lawrence in the classic stuff) into plexi cranked gets you there in a hurry. He also used echo plex which gave him a small boost. You can open your jmp amp by cranking presence and mids. Does the lead tone with a slight push from clean boost.
Later used 2205/2210. Those were his best 80's tones.
Then you have the kitty hawk, pro sonic, soldano, and custom amp.
All to say, he sounds like him through anything. Great phrasing.

When I was 15, I wanted to be Matthias Jabs... I had a poster of him with his black and white striped explorer that I would stare at for hours. He is a huge guitar hero to me.
