I have a quad in my 83 B, don't know why they get panned so hard, I love 'em. Up here, I see quads go up for ~$200cad occasionally.

On a relatively local craigslist I saw a quad in excellent condition sit for months at $120 for all. I agree that their reputation is a bit undeserved, I was stalking that quad before I found some cheap evm's.

That's like $40 each.

Eww.. My 1st 412 had them and played them for a LONG time. They mic and sound like shit.
BUT don't be like me and have an empty 412 sitting around.. Shoulda at least kept the other speakers I tried over the years..

I probably had 5 cabs that I bought, hoping for 65s since the tag said 260w, and ended up M70s. One of those cabs actually sounded decent; but not enough to keep. Definitely had more of a mid scoop similar to a 75.
If you are looking for some, go to Music Go Round.com and they probably have some for cheap. I still have a pair, that surprisingly sound good with a pair of greenbacks. But, when I go loud they sound bad. The only Celestion I can say that with. By themselves though, yuck.

i have a randall century cab with them I’ve not played in a long while, maybe time to roll it into my cab closet and make some clips.

Same. They're hard to give away in my neighbourhood, $50 each and no one bites.

No that's a completely different speaker. It's a Marshall labelled Vintage 30, 8Ω from memory.
How different is a G12-80 (T3537) from the G12-70 ?

or a G12-65 (T3054).. either similar to the G12M-70 ?

The 80 isn't a speaker I know a lot about. I have one lead cone version laying about, gotta find a cab for it. Interested in the bass cone version thanks to the GAS inducers around here.

I do know that I've never gotten on with the 70 - it's dull and harsh at the same time. I didn't even know that was possible.

I’ve seen those cheap on SF Craigslist as well as sitting around for long periods.
