Yeah, maybe I'll drop these speakers off at the cemetery gates.Recommend taking a walk
If you had done it sooner, the floods would have taken care of 'em for you.Yeah, maybe I'll drop these speakers off at the cemetery gates.
That's maybe the best Celestion speaker made, since 1973 anyway...the first version V30, 8 ohm Marshall Vintage, from 1986-1990. Incredible speaker. About the furthest from the M70 I can imagine. It's the same thing as a "G12V" (T3896).. right ?
I'll hook 'em up to a variac and blow them up, one at a time, and monetize the video on teh YouTube.I remember a thread about the M70, way back where someone tried to sell 6 he had taking up space in his closet. He ended up chaining all the frames together and using all 6 as a boat anchor.
I mean, 6 magnets right? Probably works well.

Better yet, sell the opportunity to blow up a speaker with a variac. Maybe $25 each?I'll hook 'em up to a variac and blow them up, one at a time, and monetize the video on teh YouTube.

Not to fuel your GAS more but I have a bass cone G12-80 and the thing blows my mind. I only have an orphan though, so I put it in a 1x12 and use it for practice and smaller stuff. Would absolutely KILL to have a whole quad of them after the awesome experience of just playing through a single - although maybe the bass cone is part of what makes the single sound so good, maybe I'd find the quad too bassy. Probably not.The 80 isn't a speaker I know a lot about. I have one lead cone version laying about, gotta find a cab for it. Interested in the bass cone version thanks to the GAS inducers around here.
I do know that I've never gotten on with the 70 - it's dull and harsh at the same time. I didn't even know that was possible.
Not to rub it in but I have two 4x12s loaded with them. Tons of low end but very very tight. The bass is ample but not overbearing in any way so no problem in a 4x12Not to fuel your GAS more but I have a bass cone G12-80 and the thing blows my mind. "Best' for what ?That's maybe the best Celestion speaker made, since 1973 anyway...
Maybe for the quad. Those are easily worth -$200
Best sounding all around, with any amp I have now or have sold/traded in the last 4 years. It's like a mix of a Mesa V30 with a 1979 Marshall label G12 65."Best' for what ?
The chugga chugga ?
