for a Trainwreck-ish amp? ;)

I had some spare parts and built this little sucker yesterday, an Express with PPIMV. The idea is to add these kind of sounds to my multi channel amps as channel 2 for the more bluesy stuff.

If you can't stand the kraut accent, skip to 0:55 :D

Thanks for watching, nice sunday

Monday:

So here is the intermediate "product" - a standard master (PPIMV taken out of the circuitry), which allows to get those sounds at any volume. It is not quite finished (part 3 to follow :D ), there is still some "stiffness" and some nasty stuff (the d-major in that vid "crunch setting), but I'm sure that I can get rid of that with some further tweaks.

Additionally (having "gain" and "master" pots now) one can have a pure "clean" setting now, which I like.

I'm on a good way, no? What do you think?

Thanks for watching.

:D

ok, I've mounted the trannies already friday evening, Steve.

Thanks Joey. The TS comes in at 2:28 or so (when I've cut the vid). The delay (in front) is always on.

Now I have to see if I can get rid of that PPIMV and get the same results with Loops and such . . .

That was really cool
I like what you're doing...not just here but with a lot of your other builds as well. I'm a big fan of Trainwreck style amps...in fact I've had an Express on order form JM for about 8 months now (ETA still 6 months out :aww: ).

Thanks Rupe.
Will it come with a PPIMV?
If not, thats a really LOUD motherfucker :D

But fun. Fischer was definitely a genius, simple but awesome designs for sure.

which amp where you using doc? the slighty clean breakup tone you got at the beginning is SICK!

WHAT DID YOU SAY??? ;)

No MV on this one...JM is only building them to Ken's original specs: http://www.trainwreck.com/?page_id=5

The small little sucker on top of the vertical 2x12", Joey. I had an older mislabeled LJ chassis and some transformers, so its PTP and visually pretty ugly. It is just a test (in a nice headshell) for something different, you know. Just trying to reproduce this crunch in my multi-channel designs.

It is loud as hell, think full driven PI/poweramp (like a 50s Marshall) with a really hot running pre in front. This thing shakes walls and eats other 50 Watters easily for breakfast :D

I didn't know that there are still "originals" out there. Cool. Thanks.

wow, you definitely have some of that loose clean slightly break up tone in your other amps for sure, but this one sounds a bit different..... more organic, more VINTAGE if you will..... what did you do different ?

That was fucking awesome Olaf, very enjoyable to watch and hear.

It is just a test, Joey. I've taken those designs and just built me a base to get the sound I have now in the vid with what I'm normally using (loops, master, ...). So will change it to get the same result. Sounds strange, I know, but thats me - strange :D

That sounds really good, are you changing anything other than just switching from the neck to bridge pickup to achieve the difference in gain?

it sounds great olaf. it sounds like the low mids and lows are a bit more prevalent than in your other designs.. even when cleaned up. it has a characteristic "thump" so you feel it coming off the cones. i like that.. other folks may not.. but i try to dial a bit of that into an amp if i can. too much isn't a good thing either. :D

i think the neck bucker is split so it sounds more open and of course lower output. the bridge is just normal humbucker with higher output.

Hi DN, at 2:28 or so the TS is on, not so much for gain, but a bit more treble and attack.
Thanks for watching.

You know my age, Dave. Sharp treble makes my ears bleed. old as I am :D

The treble pot is at 10 o'clock, so there's a lot of treble room available, another part may be that the big mic is pretty bass heavy. In the room (to me) it sounds "round".

Thanks for watching.
