So here is the intermediate "product" - a standard master (PPIMV taken out of the circuitry), which allows to get those sounds at any volume. It is not quite finished (part 3 to follow :D ), there is still some "stiffness" and some nasty stuff (the d-major in that vid "crunch setting), but I'm sure that I can get rid of that with some further tweaks.

Additionally (having "gain" and "master" pots now) one can have a pure "clean" setting now, which I like.

I'm on a good way, no? What do you think?

Thanks for watching.

Edit: dynamic response and feel very similiar tone descriptions to me...no?
Close I suppose, but I guess I've always viewed them as a bit different. Dynamic response is obvious...how the amp responds to changes in a guitars volume and how the player attacks the the strings (pick attack for most of us). I look at feel as more of a visceral thing. Its the tightness/looseness, immediacy/sag of an amps response...something that the listener doesn't necessarily get but the player "feels" it in the interaction between guitar and amp. Think of plugging into a blackface Fender vs. a Vox AC30...the Fender will have a much more immediate attack whereas the Vox will have a softer/spongier attack, but they'll both produce amazing clean or overdriven tones through somewhat similar dynamic responses. That's how I see it anyway.

That said I get what you are saying about the Wreck...the clones that I've checked out were awesome sounding but not easy to play by any means...they'll definitely keep you on your toes. I'm really looking forward to getting my Express.
yup...undestood.

Hmm...interesting. I know that Mark Kane, Paul Ruby and Allan Myers make some of the best ones out there today.

i used to play a v-4 back in the 70's. no mv.. no pedals. plug and play. if you hit a clunker there was no place for you to hide.

i think you may be correct about it being a bit harsh or stiff on the treble side. not sure what you'd need to do to tame that. iirc the v-4 was sort of like that.. especially if you had the rocker switches set to bring out the treble. it was piercingly bright.. and did i mention LOUD.

One of the best tones for jazzy blues that I ever got was a Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion through a V4 and VT22 cab. I used it at our rehearsal spot since it was a permanent fixture in the bass player's basement...loved that amp. Ironically my current bass player now owns that exact head.

You're getting there Olaf...just a bit of harshness on the gainier stuff but the cleans were right there.
