I remember the day I bought it. Tone Shop Addison, before they branched out. Was there to check out some other guitars, Reverend and something else. Didn't like any of em.
Wandered over to the amp side, checking out the then new hardwired Deluxe Reverb, and a CS Princeton. Grabbed the Squier off the wall because it seemed versatile enough to try all the tones.
Forget the amps, that guitar got my attention. I hung it back up and was about to walk out.
About faced, hit up one of the shop guys, "any deal to be had on that Squier?" He looked at me kinda funny. I mean, I've dropped thousands in that shop. He said sure, $400 otd. Done.
It was fantastic. But then @scottosan helped me mod it. He wound single coil pups with white bobbins. I wanted white to be like Cobain's Vandalism & Gilmour's black strats. I think it was Scott's first shot at single coils?
I made clips comparing Scott's pups to the Squier's. Scott's were noticeably weaker, scooped, plinkier. He didn't like them. I loved them. He wound a fatter souding set and wanted me to try em. I refused. I absolutely love the sound of that first set. Then Scott helped me install a Sunset bridge pup with a super switch, that splits the hb with the middle pup in the in-between setting. Bloody hell, that guitar is amazeballs.
Yep. I've had 2 G&Ls, Fender Americans, Nash...
That Squier is my fav Strat I've ever had.

That $400 sounds as good as anything in the stable. I can play it near as well as the Suhr Modern. It's crazy.

I'm not a single coil in the bridge player at all. Lol. Other than the pickup and finish, it's as it came to me, previous coworker traded it to me for a pedal. No logo on the headstock, was beat up pretty bad, so I sanded it down, it got to the point it's at now, and I liked it, and left the finish that way. Not sure which series it is or anything like that. Just know it plays and sounds fantastic.

Same. HB in the bridge, always! Except, my Tele P90. Whoever was winding pups that day, I want to buy them dinner.

Congrats on the killer axe, whatever it is!
