I just brought this one home today. Its a 594 wood library with the brazilian board. My buddy works at a shop that has been liquidating some guys collection for the past year (They say he spends something like $250k a year on guitars, this one came in wednesdays batch along with some Hubers, a Detemple tele and some other crazy stuff and a bunch of 3rd power and Carr amps. Its also the same collector that brought in the True Historic a while back that I STOLE for $2800 because they priced it like a regular 60 reissue and he didn't say anything when they priced it)
The paperwork says it was just built 4 months ago...and it looked unplayed lol. I also STOLE this one! Cant believe what I payed for it, especially since Willcutt still has one up on their site from this run and they retailing at $4800.
It has all the lowend of a Les Paul but SOOOO much more clarity than any LP Ive ever played with the playability and build quality of a PRS. And I can tell you, this smokes that $9k LP I had in terms of build quality lol, there were a bunch of issues with that Gibson. And if any of you can make out that tag price, I paid WAY less than that lol, Im a regular.

Reza - You say you like fatter necks. The Custom 24's are not available in the Fat neck option. I have always been a fan of their Modern Eagle guitar. The Modern Eagle 2 to me was their best production bang for the buck. They do make a modern eagle with neck binding. The 594 is a beast of a guitar for what it is. They did a real good job with it.

Dibs

Dude, thats a chub worthy guitar.

Ditto on what lessthan said. I just traded for this one. The asymmetrical neck profile is killer. Try a rosewood neck model if you can!

I currently have a 91 Artist and a 2016 594. Both are absolutely killer guitars.

The Artist was originally built for Dann Huff. It is basically a CU24 term with the wide fat neck, artist/private stock type top, and brazzy board. It plays and sounds great. Clocks in a bit heavy for a PRS at around 9 pounds 5 oz, but maybe that contributes to the tone. I have thought about flipping this one, but widened up. It is a keeper.

I picked up the 594 a few months ago. I went with a 10 top rather than a wood library or artist. Of the ones in the shop it played the best and was cheaper too. PRS really nailed it with the 594. Clear bell like tone and great playability. Weighs just under 8 pounds.

I do think the term guitars make it easier to dial-in low action given the adjustable saddles.

Here are some pictures of the 91:

Reza- what do you want to get out of the PRS? You started thinking CU24 and migrated to 594 which are worlds apart obviously. I know, it's easy to do. I think focus a little on what you're after outta this guitar and it'll be easier to point you in the right direction. Not sure how close you are to Wild West Guitars but they usually have a bunch(though they usually have a lot of high end). Doug Diamond is the shit though.

That's down the street from me, I'm friends with Doug and Bo over there, I have filmed videos for them before.

I'm dealing with Wired Guitarist right now as they give the best deals on PRS.

I would get a CU24 but they don't have binding, and I want that.

I just want to get something different in the rotation. Lots of GAS and need to blow off a little steam..

The Custom 24 25th Anniversary has binding. The Modern Eagle Quatro also has binding.

Got this a few months ago. New Floyd Custom 24. Great guitar!

-I'm not a PRS guy, but that's beautiful, only thing I would change are the pick up rings

I had three custom 24s (1998, 2013, 2012), 2 singlecuts (2001, 2005), tremonti 2010.
Each of them were quality built, very VERY comfortable. But tonewise I feel at home only with LP (old Standard or Reissue).
I have been trying to bond with each PRS I owned. In the end they were all sold.
I would rather get a nice custom Suhr or TA.

There seems to be too many PRS models these days, but I'm kinda zeroing in on a Custom 24. (this is all because of Chris Poland's album Return to Megalopolis btw) He played a PRS on that album, and I just want to be like him.
In that case, another downside is you'll have to become a heroin addict also.

Yeah I think chrome rings would look cool! The pickups in this series are pretty sweet too!

Just saw the 509 today... now I am back to gassing for another PRS.... fml

Wow!

Tye DGT is an awesome guitar, one of the best offerings of PRS, but to me it looks better without binding.

I played a few PRS guitars yesterday at Pro Sound in Bloomington, IL. First up was the Angelus SE acoustic, which I did not like at all. It looked and felt nice, but sounded super thin and cheap. At $700, I wouldn't consider it at all. I wonder if this one was a dud? Only had one in the store, first one they've ordered.

Next was a violet Custom 24 10 Top coming in at a whopping $3300. Gorgeous color and top. Pattern thin neck isn't so thin really, wasn't that comfortable for me. Not sure why. I like thicker necks about the same as thin really. It wasn't a big deal in the end, I still loved it.

Mahogany Mira S2 after that. This thing weighed like a pound and a half, I swear. It was so light you could forget it was on your lap. The guy working there (who was really cool) told me the one they had in stock before was even lighter. I plugged this one in, and really liked it. It didn't sound "light" at all. Pickups sound great, especially split. The volume loss sucks, but that's just how it goes. S2 Mira's have the Pattern Regular neck according to the website, and I liked it more than the Pattern Thin. The Pattern Thin felt like it was too wide or something? I don't know exactly. They wanted $1129 for this one, which is a bit too much I think. I would pay $1000 for it though. It was really great. Haven't stopped thinking about that guitar since I left the store yesterday.

They were closing up, so I grabbed an SE Standard just for comparison. Oh boy...that thing was a piece of shit. It just felt like a toy in my hands. The neck felt weak and the shape was weird, the body felt like 15 layers of pain. The difference between the S2 and the SE Standard was immediately clear. The guitar was the SE Standard 22 in Platinum.

I've played several SE Customs, and they were 10x better than the SE Standard. I was expecting a difference, but not nearly that drastic. The SE Customs are nice guitars for the money. I could be happy with one, I'm sure. It's not a Core line PRS, but it does have the look, feel, and sound of PRS for 1/4th of the price. The S2 Mira was great though...

The store has the new McCarty 594 and more S2 models coming in this month. They're gonna call me when they come in, so i will report back soon.
