Wonder if it's loud enough for gigs?
If I had a nickel for every time a 5-15 watt amp came out, and this question came up.

Playing stadiums, or small gigs, here?

Yup, I can count the number of gigs on my hands that were unmic’d over the last 34 years.
If there’s a p.a. Just about any amp is fine.

Not if you have a REALLY loud drummer. If you have in-ears, no worries. But I would always side wash and I still had to turn up fairly loud at gigs. If you have a really good monitor system to help, fine. But many drummers I've played with over the years hit em pretty hard, I don't think anything less than 50 would work. But that's just me, and my experience here at the clubs I've played. I'd rather have the option of MORE power than be in a situation where I need more but don't have it.
Outdoor festivals/street dances obviously you'll need more wattage.

Then it still depends on what cab you run it through and what speaker efficiency. Our drummer is crazy loud (measured 120-125dB, uses a lot of cymbals that smear things) and years ago I ran a little 18W H&K Tubemeister (EL84's) through my Engl 4x12" Pro (Vintage 30's) and I could easily keep up with him, unmiced.

Same with my Ironball or Mark V:25...run 'em through a 4x12, BOOM! Shake shake shake the room!

One issue I have with some EL84 amps at loud stage volumes, is the lack of body/girth to the tone (although the Ironball gets that right through a 4x12...), but I see the MT15 has overcome that with using big glass and bigger iron. So kudos to them.
While I like how the thing sounds, it also sounds a tad...generic maybe? I tested the 50W Archon once, had the same feeling. It's like their guitars; some Strat, some Les Paul, but not the character of either :checkthisout: .

A Canadian retailer just got back to me after confirming with the distributer that these won't hit stores here until July. So I'm thinking mid June for the US.

Awe the old, is it loud enough with the drummer concern. Valid concern. However, its really down to how much clean headroom you need. If you don't need clean, you can typically get by just fine with a lower wattage amp, which in the case of this amp, I doubt many are buying it for the cleans.

I would like to try one, seems like alot of Amp for $600. I like that it uses big bottle tubes and is still pretty light at 18lbs. Would like to run it head to head with my 16lb Mesa TA15. :)
