I've purchased cab packs in the last but I honestly feel just doing a quick IR of your own cab and the sounds you like makes these amp captures WAY better. I always seem to fiddle more with IR packs where my own cabs I throw too mics on and get something I like. Captured my 1960 with broken in 90's V30's into my Ramsa preamps and a SM7b/57 combo and I think a lot of these new genomenamp captures sound pretty damn good when you listen back to them. It doesn't respond like an amp but on playback it sure as hell sounds like one. I was also playing through some user uploads in the free NAM/ Tone 3000 network and there is some awesome stuff up there too.

Side note, another reason I made this impulse was because I knew at some point my kids or I would nudge the mics. Well, that happened when some shit I put in the amp head fell down and moved my mics...glad I got the capture before. I do mark where the mics go bit we all know whether voodoo or not, sometimes you feel you've hit the jackpot and everything can sound different with the slightest nudge.

All this to say, don't buy endless IR packs. Get a reasonably clean power amp and a reamp box and make your own. I used a EH 44 magnum and I think it did a pretty good job. Will be nice to be able to record demo ideas or leads late at night without the amp going full pin. A few weeks back I think i did 20 takes of a lead before I felt I had 2 or 3 I could put together. I am in the camp that real mic is always a bit better but that is not always realistic. Not that I want to Glenn Fricker this but how much of these impulses are really that intricate? They sell it like they have meticulously sat there with a measuring tape when it is probably just a few clicks at diff distances without knowing really how good something sounds. It just " sounds".
