I like the fact they are using 6L6 in the power amp, the cleans are really nice and the dirt is tight and crunchy, seems like a great amp for $600 bones. Rig Talk discussion starts NOW...

Definitely interested. I'll wait and pick one up used though.

I've had one on pre-order at the local shop now since the last NAMM but they keep pushing the dates back... I hear shipping in mid June now.

PRS Experience is June 8-9. Shawn, PRS Cust Service Manager, said June 15, I think. I will be surprised they aren't available at the Experience, maybe in limited quantities. The dealers there will be the ones to watch if you didn't preorder. Some big box stores show July now.

This is one of the better demos that shows the versatility for sure. Haven't preordered but I'm definitely in.

Amp sounds good, they seem to get more incomprehensible through the video though.

I don't care its its 15 20 or 50 watts ,thats an amazing sounding amp
and when it' s cranked its hitting 114db through a 412 would make your ears bleed
agreed with other posts at 1130 on the gain seems to be the sweet spot
love it

This clip sounds very Recto-ish to me.

Sounds crazy good! Given Tremonti's core rig/tone is comprised of a Dual/Triple Rectifier and an Ubershall I'm not surprised there is a Mesa-esque tone present.

Damn near like my Archon.

I'm gassing for this hard, but I'm gonna hold off....I feel like they know this will be a hit and will expand more models.....

Yeah I was going to say the same thing -- this clip really reminds me of my old Uber.

For sure some early Recto in there
But tighter and more articulate
I agree on the Uberschall as well

That's a lot of amp for $600. Was contemplating trying to find a used EVH 5150III 50 watter used, then this thing pops up. Wonder if it's loud enough for gigs?

I would imagine 15 watts would be plenty loud enough, it seems like it hits pretty hard and you may even get to turn it up half way or so, you are lucky to be on 1-3 with a 100 or 50 watt amp usually and then the sound guy ask you to turn down some....

It all depends on if the amp can stay together when turned up and not fart out on the low end, but by early accounts the amp amp has large transformers for a lunch box amp so that should keep it together at higher volumes, but in the end you really don't know until you play it yourself. Thanks for the 45 day return policy these days in case it don't. Supposedly Tremonti used the prototype on his last album according to a interview on YT. The EVH 50 watter is what $900.00 which would be it's nearest competitor really. I don't think PRS builds junk so we'll see...the Archon gets pretty consistent reviews and seems like a great hard rock metal amp.

I have a 5 watt single ended amp that gets loud.

I heard it's a loud 15w. Sounds more like a 40-50w amp from early reports. One guy said it's louder than his 50w amp at home.

here's a comment rom another forum

Your friend is right , I played one of these a few months ago it’s not a practice amp unless you have a soundproof studio. It sounds like a little more modern dual rectifier , we were playing through a 4x12 cab & it sounds as loud as a DR. It’s painfully loud!!

Have one on Pre-order for 3 weeks now, shipping date was showing 5-8-18 but thats come and passed..believe I will be happy with it !
