Here are the clips I was referring to... very short clip to illustrate the quick difference I heard initially with 10.0.

One is 9.03 and the other is 10.0 using the same patch.

I greatly prefer the first one there, but one can always turn down the treble right?

Presence was one of the reasons I never could get into the AxeFX. I hated the bright switch and to get a nice bright signal was difficult with it off. Perhaps Cliff fixed that (or made it more perfecter, rather) with this release.

High gain tones honestly are harder to get a good idea if that is true or not. Low gain tones to me give me a better idea on the openness and pleasing top end. That's where every single modeler I've played including the Axe falls short. Low gain amps dont feel as compressed and soft as higher gain amps. The Axe makes every amp feel somewhat the same. That's why see guys who like high gain amps get along better with the Axe than guys who prefer lower gain.

One of the things that sold me on the unit was how well it copped the feel of some of the lower gain amps. I supose it all depends on the amount of effort put forth to dial it in (or how differnt players perceive "feel")...although some of the presets sounded good, the real magic comes to light when you create and fine tune the tones. Really no absolutes here but I find the range of opinions on this matter interesting.

While there was some pretty good attempts at nailing that tone, they fell short. Maybe other's opinions are different. That said, why would no one, or few, "put forth the effort to dial it in"? That's a pretty nice tone and the type of tone I feel the AxeFX falls short.

To be fair, all amps that aren't JTM45s or clones fall short of that tone. It's a special thing.

It's hard to cop a tone. If it were easy, the amp market wouldn't be as profitable and diverse as it is. Nevertheless, when the excuse is you didn't dial it in right, why are so many people not "dialing in right" some of the best tones around?
