Another paypal lesson I learned recently was with regards to putting a deposit down on an item and then paying the balance when the item is ready to ship. Paypal only covers one of the transactions, usually the larger of the two or the balance, so if you put a deposit down and there is exhorbinant wait or you never receive the item at all and can't attain a refund, they do not cover the deposit amount, only the remaining balance amount, not both.

That's why I have my Paypal account tied to an account I use for deposits. Then have that account immediately transfer to my main bank account at another bank. Costs me $3.00. But no way for Paypal to syphon money back out.

Why couldn't PayPal still just syphon the money out of your account and leave it in an overdraft position? Then the bank will come after you to cover the overdraft......

that still will not save you if someone tries to fuck you over by reversing a paypal payment that is funded by a credit card
if a paypal gift or any other paypal transaction is reversed based on it being funded by a credit card then paypal will simply put your paypal account balance into negative balance and you then have 28 days to repay that balance and after that paypal will use various forms of litigation to recover the outstanding paypal balance as in debt colletion agencies.

so although your personal bank account is not vunerable it is unlikely you will get out of repaying the money and I can tell you that in the uk paypal are fucking relentless in the pursuit of money that needs to be collected ,they employ debt collection agencies that are backed up by the full force of the law and the courts , if you fuck up with paypal in the uk then you can expect to have two or three baliffs knocking on your door with walking possesion warrants and ready to make a full inventory of your possesions to sell off at auction to recover the money that is owed ... in short paypal are cunts
