Many diss on these RD45H's but after a retube with good tubes and proper bias, they're more than adequate. I grabbed one. Pretty good deal, if you ask me. Serious bang for buck, loud as hell, and I like the tone more than the EVH 50. They have a nice aggressive tone with a good boost.

What's interesting is the cosmetics have changed. No devil logo, and the front panel is much cleaner.

Also, I noticed on their website that its 6L6 or optional EL34 loaded. Prior, they never stated this. I definitely want to try EL34's, but I'm curious if they have to be ordered with them in a modified version, or if its set up for both.

Don't go throwing EL34s in it.. Randall said it needs modified with a resistor change. Dumbasses. Why not make that part clear on the website?

I got it a few days ago. They switched from Chinese to all JJ tubes. Dark, dark, dark!! I'd typically keep the JJ's in the power section, but I tried some others in all spots.

I landed on Tungsol 6L6GC-STR's biased to 34mA, a Tungsol in V1, I ended up with an NOS GE JAN 5751 in V2, a JJ in V3, and a Sovtek LPS in V4. Sounds pretty damn good for $499. I'm hitting the front end with an MXR Custom Badass Modified OD. This amp punches well above the price. Serious bang for buck at $499!

I remember when they blew these out like 5 years ago for $350. The regular price on these is just too high. $500 seems good, though! Cool amps, but not for me.
