There’s obviously differences in the guitars, but, having tried both in the same guitar, an honest assessment is that they share very similar DNA. The original has just a little more saturation and a little more wool on the top end. Both add a really good lowend chunk and single notes bloom.

On a serious note if your new magnet source works out could be interesting experimenting with these with various magnets / magnet combinations if you can get them in appropriate sizes.

I’m so angry now :( been trying to source these since September , with no expense spared for price and shipping. I’m on my 3rd try from the UK and questionable non communicative customer service and I out a few hundred dollars with enough magnets to make 2 pickups, which I’ve shipped. The shipment from the new vender was on the truck yesterday out for delivery from UPS. It’s now missing. Not at the hub and not on the truck. I’m now out almost $400-500 and have literally been at a standstill on this project. How can so many incompetent people affect a single person in such a short period of time? If these don’t show up, I’m not going to keep throwing money this. It’s insanity.

pup sounds killer dude....sorry about the magnet fiasco. Damn...that has to be aggravating.
 
That sucks, Scott! Hopefully they get their shit together. There’s no excuse for poor customer service.

It’s nuts! I got my 3rd envelop from the UK today. Empty again. This guy doesn’t understand magnetism. It can’t support the pull and weight of them pull of the magnets.

As for my large vendor shipment how the F can it go from being out on a truck in Texas on Monday to being in Illinois on Wednesday.

UPS finally delivered. I was so happy to the the man in the brown truck. I think I made him feel uncomfortable. After what I’ve been through for this project, I’ve never been so happy to see another man :|

ordered a locking hub for my truck and UPS said it was delivered. No it wasn't. Next day it was. Maybe the rooskies cyberattacked them Scott.

I didn’t name a seller, although I guess it could be seen in the picture, which I’ve since removed. While it is frustrating that I’ve been having issues, the seller has communicated that they have every intention of taking care of this, although they are now out of stock and I have to wait an undetermined amount of time. The communication, while existent, is typically very short responses and has usually required a follow up. I understand people get busy, but when there’s a problem, communication can offset negative customer experience.

In this case magnets, if people are ordering just a few magnets, and doing so domestically, you can probably get away with just putting them in a paper envelope. But, I’ve ordered a few hundred magnets from several vendors both domestic and international, and all has used padding between the magnets and packaging. I ordered around 20 on the last order. They have sharp edges and imagine the pull, extra weight, and abuse a paper envelope would experience going half the world away and likely coming in contact will metal transportation bins, conveyors, and sorting machines. I can tell you the (8) .5” magnets would be packed 2 rows of 4 to make 2 inches. The tears in packaging of the last 2 shipments is not the entire width of the envelope, just the center partjust about as wide as what the magnets would be. The packing slips were still inside since they were folded the width of the envelop and only the centers were torn.

This is how magnet are typically wrapped before being packaged. This way, no sharp edges and more than a few mil of space between the magnet and anything they are attracted to.
