ToneNerd pickups "The PSykes" (Long Review)

Tone Nerd pickups in my four guitars over here . Very satisfied

I had an Afwayu in my 09 Plum SoCal forever....like 10 years. When I put the Psyches in my 08 Blue Charvel, the Afwayu sounded flat in comparison...and the SoCal has thicker/better tone. It's been my #1 for years. I'd never believe any pickup would make that Afwayu sound meh; but there it was. Yanked it for the other Psyches I had here.

Great timing on this post since I just wired my Psykes into one of my LPCs. Scott has put some sort of sorcery in this thing… the Aldrich in it previously sounded fantastic but the Psykes is topping it. He lightly aged it for me and used gold screws to match the hardware.

Wow... umm.. blast from the past. No that was the stock neck pickup.

I am in the process of swapping my BK Silos with a Road Pro IV set from Planet Tone and have been really happy so far. I am waiting on the bridge - but the neck sounds awesome. I do super clean jazzy/fusion stuff into wildly heavy riffing and shredding. That's jus a random shoutout to them as they have made several sets for myself and several client guitars of mine.

If you find any of Scott's Pickups for sale - I'd grab em up and give them a try. Can't lose and easy to resell if you don't like it. Sometimes they pop up in the Classified section, but not for long.

Can confirm these pups are a beast. top end is great, gain is massive, and they actually clean up well. no complaints here.
