Bought a Very expensive guitar from Eddies about a year ago. Like most online boutique shops, u have a 48 hr approval period. If you don't like it, u can send it back and get a refund or try something else. Guitar was 6k. I got it and spend all day playing it, but at the end of the day it just didn't impress, and for 6k, a guitar needs to give me a total boner and then some. So I sent it back to Eddies via Fed Ex 2 day air. 4 days later, I had not received any reply from Eddies that the guitar made it back. I already had a guitar of equal value picked out for them to send me, so I have them a call. Nathan at Eddies got on the phone and said, "oh, hey man, we got the guitar back but Fed Ex smashed it. You are gonna need to file a claim!" This was the start of a 4 1/2 month living hell in which I had to call fed ex every day, got little to no help from Eddies,(even tho I had bought nearly 20k of guitars with them already) had to get a lawyer involved, ect..ect.. A total nightmare and I didn't even have the guitar. Eddies dodged my calls, the claim worker ad fed ex was the same. Finally I had to have my lawyer threaten to sue both Fed ex and eddies to get anyone moving on this. In the end, I got 75% of my money back and got to keep the guitar, which had a crack in the top from the toggle switch being pushed into the body. I had it repaired locally for 85$ and you could never tell anything ever happened to it. Eddies wanted me to send them my claim check from FedEx for 4,800$, and they would fix the guitar for me and send me back the repaired guitar. What a joke. They got my original 6k, then were going to get my claim check for 4800$ on top of that and I get the guitar I didn't really like. ???
Bottom line, if your stuck on this and have to deal with the fed ex claim process, call them every day. Be the squeaky wheel. Threaten to sue. The have to log in every time you call about it and eventually will want to get you resolved. It may take a while. It really sucks. Hopefully you can get it resolved.
PM me if you need any further advice. I'm well versed in this shit. (Sad to say)

Sounds horrible but in the end a major win for you.

I would have loved to be in the situation on the phone when Eddie's asked me to send them the claim check   wow that would have been a great time.

Hopefully you laughed and told them where to stick it.

wow, that is super cool man!! maybe I will take you up on that! being ampless is horrible!

Sorry to hear about everyones horror stories. This blows! Fwiw, my local package guy, who uses fed ex and ups wont i sure anything he doesnt inspect or correctly package. It has saved my ass a couple times.

just called fedex again. the amp is still on its way BACK TO Virginia!! let me ask you guys this. I thought to myself, the headshell is cracked and something is wrong internally, but if it was examined by fedex somewhere local, I would be ok with it going to suhr for a new headshell and repairs. but now, it is bouncing back across the country already broken. the way the guy had it packaged, was almost like he built something around it. I had to cut through tape, cardboard boxes, and Styrofoam, the kind that comes apart easily, so there was also a lot of pieces of Styrofoam in the rear of the amp, the amp was not placed in a bag. to bad the top and bottom did not have the amount of padding as the sides did. so, at this point, after it arrived broken, and then you find out it is going back across the country, would you even want it at this point. I was bummed, the pt100 is hard to come across used and I got a good deal.

Steve is a really good dude, he offered to lend me an amp til this is settled. that is an awesome part of being a forum member. I am giving it some thought.

this is a nightmare situation for sure.

The same thing happened to a friend mine back in Louisiana when he got his PT100. He called up Suhr, and he got a replacement head cabinet. I don't know if he had to pay for it, but, after talking with him about it, I got the impression they hooked him up. If it hasn't already been mentioned, it's worth a shot to give them a call.

Lastly, if anything is wrong with the amp, send it to John. He will take care of you.

Just saw this. Sucks, man! :aww:

I went through this earlier this year with FedEx, good luck.

its almost as if it does not matter how well you pack it. They go out of there way to try to damage amps.

talked to Don at Suhr, he was super helpful and a great guy, he could not have been any better, at that point when the amp was still here, I would have been ok with it going to Suhr for a new headshell, and a fix to the internal issues. but now its bouncing back to Virginia. unbelievable.

that sucks...99.9 % sure they will say bad packing job...did it to me and I got nothing....and the packing was fine, its at their discretion so why would they say its their fault?/

I just went through something similar with UPS. Bought a Mesa Mark III combo from eBay and the guy who I bought it from took it to a UPS store to package and ship it. Well as soon as I picked up the box off the garage floor, I knew something was wrong. To my surprise there was only one piece of bubble wrap in the box on the bottom that went up the one side. Un-freakin-believable! Not to mention the combo weighed more than the rating in the box. The cab was basically rendered useless and the power light was damaged. There was some additional damage to the fan, etc. Luckily for both involved the seller insured it. The ups store has been pretty good about it but communication has not been the greatest. It's been 6 weeks since The claim was filed and u should gave my check this week for a new cab and repair work done by Mesa. Fortunately the dude I bought it from is a good guy and has helped me the whole way with getting a resolution.

did they pick up the amp to examine it?

Don't even get me started with FedEx. Whenever I have something shipped to me, I specifically ask to not have it shipped FedEx, always have bad luck with them. UPS, USPS and DHL have all been fine for me.

I have sold amps to a few on here and other forums over the years... I always wrap the amp in about 5 layers of bubble wrap and TRIPLE box every amp even though it adds extra weight and bulk, it's well worth the piece of mind. I have never so much as had a complaint about anything except that I use too much tape

Personally, my feeling is that it's the responsibility of the shipper to handle shipping issues.
If the item comes to you damaged, then the seller/shipper should handle everything needed.
After all, none of the packing or shipping was in your hands so why should you have to deal with it?
Even if the amp is new or used it's still the seller and shippers responsibility to pack the item properly and the shipper to get it there in one piece and NOT broken or damaged.

Is the Suhr dealer handling this for you?
If not they should be.

Good man.
Over packing is MUCH better than under packing every time.
