The same thing happened to a friend mine back in Louisiana when he got his PT100. He called up Suhr, and he got a replacement head cabinet. I don't know if he had to pay for it, but, after talking with him about it, I got the impression they hooked him up. If it hasn't already been mentioned, it's worth a shot to give them a call.

Lastly, if anything is wrong with the amp, send it to John. He will take care of you.

Personally, my feeling is that it's the responsibility of the shipper to handle shipping issues.
If the item comes to you damaged, then the seller/shipper should handle everything needed.
After all, none of the packing or shipping was in your hands so why should you have to deal with it?
Even if the amp is new or used it's still the seller and shippers responsibility to pack the item properly and the shipper to get it there in one piece and NOT broken or damaged.

Is the Suhr dealer handling this for you?
If not they should be.

I did not get it from a dealer, I got it from a private party.

I got everyone beat on the horror story of packing.
Did an amp trade few years back. I packed mine to the hilt. After mine was gone I didn't hear shit from the other guy. 2 weeks went by and he finally said he shipped his amp to me.
It arrived ...... No padding. He just wrapped card board around the amp.
Crazy thing? It was intact. No broke tubes or headshell.
I was had a great sigh of relief.

Wait, the guy disappeared after you mailed your amp for two weeks? I would have figured the guy was trying to scam me.

My personal rules for trading gear through mail like that is:

1. We agree on what day we are BOTH shipping out on before I would ship.

2. If I ship first, the other guy has (insert transit/delivery time of package) minus two days to ship. Meaning, if it will take 4 days for my package to get to the other guy, he has 2 days to ship. If he doesn't ship, I'm on the phone with UPS and am going to have my package reversed and sent back to me.

People tend to forget, you have possession of your sent package all the way until it's a couple hrs from delivery, you can always have it returned to sender.

I realize I'm getting slightly off topic, but since we are talking about shipping and questionable folks at the other end of deals, I figured it was useful info.

Bought a Very expensive guitar from Eddies about a year ago. Like most online boutique shops, u have a 48 hr approval period. If you don't like it, u can send it back and get a refund or try something else. Guitar was 6k. I got it and spend all day playing it, but at the end of the day it just didn't impress, and for 6k, a guitar needs to give me a total boner and then some. So I sent it back to Eddies via Fed Ex 2 day air. 4 days later, I had not received any reply from Eddies that the guitar made it back. I already had a guitar of equal value picked out for them to send me, so I have them a call. Nathan at Eddies got on the phone and said, "oh, hey man, we got the guitar back but Fed Ex smashed it. You are gonna need to file a claim!" This was the start of a 4 1/2 month living hell in which I had to call fed ex every day, got little to no help from Eddies,(even tho I had bought nearly 20k of guitars with them already) had to get a lawyer involved, ect..ect.. A total nightmare and I didn't even have the guitar. Eddies dodged my calls, the claim worker ad fed ex was the same. Finally I had to have my lawyer threaten to sue both Fed ex and eddies to get anyone moving on this. In the end, I got 75% of my money back and got to keep the guitar, which had a crack in the top from the toggle switch being pushed into the body. I had it repaired locally for 85$ and you could never tell anything ever happened to it. Eddies wanted me to send them my claim check from FedEx for 4,800$, and they would fix the guitar for me and send me back the repaired guitar. What a joke. They got my original 6k, then were going to get my claim check for 4800$ on top of that and I get the guitar I didn't really like. ???
Bottom line, if your stuck on this and have to deal with the fed ex claim process, call them every day. Be the squeaky wheel. Threaten to sue. The have to log in every time you call about it and eventually will want to get you resolved. It may take a while. It really sucks. Hopefully you can get it resolved.
PM me if you need any further advice. I'm well versed in this shit. (Sad to say)

That your fancy blue one piece quilt Suhr?

I really do not get how people do not pack amps the way they are supposed to be. It is not that hard to do and I do get that FedEx and UPS will figure out some way to damage it, but at least you have to pack it properly. I sent a Marshall JCM800 to Dan Gower all the way to the UK, but I had the guys at Capitol guitars pack it since I bought it from them and it made it there with no issues. I believed they shipped via the USPS but I am not sure it had been a while, but I do know that I received the modded amp from Dan with no issues and it was send via USPS or the equivalent UK postal service since I picked it up at my local USPS.

On that note, I never personally packed an amp to be sent out since I try to sell my amps locally, but have packed a lot of guitars, which is much easier since there is the case, but I still pack it like it is an amp!!

Eddies shitter must have been full.

so, the amp was picked up by fedex about 8 days ago, and somehow it has not reached Virginia yet. I am really frustrated. I don't even want to think about what will happen to it by the time it gets there. When they came to get it, the fedex tried to start ROLLING IT DOWN MY DRIVEWAY!! I asked him what he was doing, and he said, "man, its already broken, it doesn't matter!!!" I pointed out that I put a note on the top that says this side up. he didn't seem to care at all. I am getting more frustrated by the day. I don't know why it is taking so long to get back there. it took about 5 days to get here.

I hate Fed Ex. Their customer service reps are horrible. I called 12 times about an amp they lost recently and was told literally 10 different things on 12 calls.

Fed Ex "Home" is a joke. About 2 weeks ago I was expecting 2 packages on a Sat. I called and they said delivery before 8:00 PM. Signature required on both. My wife and I moved our plans to wait, and no one ever showed up. I called at 8:45 PM and they said they were still out for delivery. No one ever showed up. Around 3:00 PM on Sunday, they updated tracking to say someone attempted delivery at 9:52 PM, but I wasn't home to sign for it. Seriously? Sad part is that isn't the first time it's happened.

I had always had good luck with fedex before this.

Maybe they lost it , in which case if it the seller declared the value he will get a refund .
I have had damage claims with fedex before . They deal with the shipper ,he is the one who will get the refund . they won't have the head repaired they may see how much the repair will cost and refund him that amount but in any case they aren't going to give you anything . So my point is if I were in your shoes I would be hitting the seller up for a refund because no matter what happens with Fedex the seller is where your money is coming from . So theres no point in you waiting a month to get your cash back .

did they pick up the amp to examine it?[/quote]

No I told them I didn't want to risk damaging the amp any further. They complied and sent me an email with specific pictures that they wanted.

I Agree!! The seller is responsible for the amp and the refund!!

so, I just traded messages with the seller. when fedex came and picked up the amp, they gave me a number for reference. so, I called again today and they said it was delivered to the seller this morning. He asked who said that and I told him a fedex rep. and I gave him the number to give them, he then told me he talked to 2 different reps there and that the number does not show up in their system. So, on a whim, I decided to plug it into the tracking at the fedex site. a bunch of info came up, and it says yesterday they tried to deliver it to him and he rejected it, and today it said unable to deliver, but when I spoke to a rep at fedex she said it was delivered to the shipper/seller at 833 this morning? their site says one thing, their rep says another, and the seller another. The amp was not supposed to go to the shipper/seller, it was supposed to be examined for the damage.

I wanted that pt100 pretty bad, they are awesome amps. I cant seem to get a straight or matching answer from anyone?

Sorry to hear that man. The seller should refund you until this situation is rectified. It's his fault in the first place for being cheap with packing materials. I always double box any gear I ship. Hope you get this fixed soon.

thanks Desi!

so, the amp has made it to some sort of guy on the east coast who does the claims for fedex. find out more later today, I have my fingers crossed.

after talking to the seller last night, it turns out it wasn't him who denied delivery of the amp, he said it was sent to some fedex ground center and that they were the ones denying it, not him. when I saw the tracking info, and I saw that fedex tried to deliver the amp to the seller and thought he was denying it, I was pretty confused about what was happening. I thought it was going to be examined. it also turns out, if he did not get ahold of the right person yesterday, they were going to SEND THE AMP BACK TO ME TODAY!! how much of a clusterfuck is that! fedex didn't know what was going on, a label possibly fell off, because the drivers who had it the last few days thought it was a regular delivery. when the fedex driver picked it up from my house, he was fully aware it was a damaged package and said the new label he was putting on it said that. this is going on close to 2 weeks now. I just want it to be over with!!

The seller should just refund you your money. This is total BS!!! That is why you always pay via a credit card even if you use Paypal. The credit card companies usually go to bat for you no matter what.

This!!

As far as the amp being "off", I am thinking one or two of the tubes could have been moved during the shipping fiasco, or broken even. But those amps are pretty bullet-proof (even if the cabinets aren't) internally!

I bet a new cabinet, and fresh tubes would get the amp working again - if you are keeping it.

I asked seller for a refund, he said, "sorry man, that money is long gone."

That sucks. I never spend money from a sale until I know the buyer is happy. Good luck
