Been listening to this a lot. Such great writing. Not a fan of the singing on the final product :(

:worship: Thanks for posting that! I do like LaBrie's voice, though.

That album release was when I discovered them and I went to see them at a small venue thinking no fucking way will they be able to execute that album live. Mind blown.

Loved the tone on that too...I know what I'm playing today.

I believe all of them attended Berklee? Monster talent there. Pull Me Under was overplayed back then; kinda like Metallica's Black album. Fantastic 2C+ tone.

I believe Petrucci and Myung were at Berkeley for a semester before they left to focus on DT. Portnoy the same, I think. Moore went to another school for a short time before leaving to do DT. These guys basically had their chops before going to Berkeley.

On the isolated Metropolis track, you can hear the Quad on the right, and a JMP-1 on the left, creates a nice balance between the Mesa note definition and the Marshall crunch. Also sounds like those masters are aging poorly, or there is some sort of noise reduction chattering away throughout:

I could have sworn Petrucci said it was a Triaxis preamp/290 power amp/Recto OS cab back in the guitar magazines at the time
